Those are my hands in the Santa Fe sky over Sun and Moon Mountains. I created this piece in my Taos studio. As usual, I spray-fixed it outdoors. There were a few areas needing touch-ups in the sky, so I worked on them and then resprayed with fixative. The touched up areas showed, so I had to redo the entire sky and then respray. The same thing happened! This had never before occurred with any pastel painting, so I had to redo the sky yet again and then skip the fixative. All this layering made the sky's pigment quite intense, powerful, and deep.
