That’s why bleeding control—keeping the blood inside the body—is the purpose of STOP THE BLEED® training. By learning how to STOP THE BLEED®, you’ll gain the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control bleeding once you learn three quick techniques. Take the STOP THE BLEED® training course and become empowered to make a life or death difference when a bleeding emergency happens. This is a fun hands on course, look forward to seeing you there!

COURSE DETAILS:

• Location: Kit Fox Outfitters (780 Main St., Suite D Ramona, CA 92065)
• Duration: 1.5 Hours
• Materials: All training materials will be provided and Certificate of Completion available upon request. 

RESCHEDULE POLICY:

Reschedule requests are REQUIRED to be received in writing via email to [email protected]. Eligibility will be determined on a case-by-case basis with an administrative fee of $25.00. Rescheduling requests that are approved will only be rescheduled one time. If a rescheduling appointment is missed, there will be no alternative rescheduling options and no refunds.  

CANCELLATION POLICY:

All cancellation requests are REQUIRED to be received in writing via email to [email protected]. Refunds will be provided based on the following criteria listed below:  

• Requests received greater than 30 days prior to the course start date will be refundable minus a $2.00 fee.
• Requests received less than 30 days prior to the course start date is NON-REFUNDABLE.

The Story of STOP THE BLEED^® 

STOP THE BLEED^® is the result of a collaborative effort led by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) to bring knowledge of bleeding control to the public. The ACS COT, and specifically the EMS subcommittee with its many collaborative relationships, provided the perfect environment for this program to grow into the critical success that it is today.

Establishing STOP THE BLEED^® as a national public awareness campaign

From the Hartford Consensus, a national emergency response goal emerged to improve victim survival following mass shootings and other intentional acts of mass violence by empowering trained bystanders to take life-saving action if quickly needed—regardless of the situation or cause of severe bleeding. STOP THE BLEED^® , a national public awareness campaign, was launched shortly thereafter, in October of 2015 by the White House, with a call to action to begin training more people to become immediate responders until professional help arrives.*

Since then, the STOP THE BLEED^® program has continued to grow as we continue to witness or experience unexpected violence and injuries in our daily lives—on the highway, in the workplace, at schools, and in other public places where we should be able to gather with an expectation of safety. The ACS Committee on Trauma first publicly introduced bleeding control training courses for its members in October 2016, and since then thousands of other medical professionals have trained to become course instructors. Today, those instructors are focused on training people in all walks of life to become immediate responders through the STOP THE BLEED^® course.

California Passes STOP THE BLEED® Bill

During the 2022 legislative session, the state of California passed legislation—Assembly Bill 2260—that requires the installation of trauma bleeding control kits in newly constructed public and private buildings throughout the state. The legislation, “Emergency Response: Trauma Kits,” is the first statewide law of its kind to make bleeding control kits widely accessible in this manner.

Amy E. Liepert, MD, FACS, a trauma and acute care surgeon, led the grassroots initiative that advocated for this legislation over the last two years. Along with a coalition of California colleagues, Dr. Liepert testified before the California legislature multiple times to advocate for this law.

“The bill doesn’t pass by the initial idea. Advocates must have the ability to communicate, compromise, and discuss what is ideal in your state. Having STOP THE BLEED® kits in your community is the ultimate goal,” Dr. Liepert said.
