Overview: The L137 Blue Eyed Red Fin Pleco, also known as Hypostomus soniae, is a captivating and relatively rare addition to the aquarium hobby. Renowned for its striking blue eyes and vibrant red fins, this pleco brings both beauty and utility to freshwater tanks. Reaching up to 10 inches in size, it is an efficient algae eater that also adds a splash of color.

Origin: Native to the fast-flowing rivers and streams of South America, specifically in the regions of Brazil, the L137 thrives in environments with strong water currents and plenty of hiding spots.

Feeding: This species is omnivorous, requiring a varied diet to stay healthy. High-quality sinking pellets, algae wafers, and occasional fresh vegetables like zucchini, cucumber, and peas will keep them in top condition. Supplement their diet with meaty foods like bloodworms for balanced nutrition.

Tank Mates: The L137 Blue Eyed Red Fin Pleco is generally peaceful and can be housed with a wide range of tank mates. Ideal companions include small to medium-sized fish that prefer the middle to upper levels of the water column. Avoid overly aggressive fish that may stress or harm your pleco.

Aggression: This pleco is known for its calm demeanor but can be territorial with other bottom dwellers, especially of its kind or similar species. Provide ample space and hiding places to minimize potential conflicts.

Experience Level: Suitable for intermediate to advanced aquarists. While not overly demanding, maintaining the ideal water conditions and diet requires a bit more attention than basic care species.

Water Parameters:
  • Temperature: 76-82°F (24-28°C)
  • pH: 6.5-7.5
  • Hardness: 5-15 dGH
  • Ensure a strong current and highly oxygenated water to mimic their natural habitat.
Conclusion: The L137 Blue Eyed Red Fin Pleco is a stunning and beneficial addition to any suitable freshwater aquarium. Its unique appearance, coupled with its utility as an algae cleaner, makes it a prized specimen for dedicated aquarists looking to add both beauty and functionality to their tanks.

The only balls that have lasted with my dogs.
Color: Orange, Size: Large
I own a Southern Black Mouth Cur and a Belgian Malinois. They have destroyed every other ball I purchased in a matter of minuets, except for these. I will not waste my money on any other brand!! Also come in large and small sizes, for at home backyard play or carrying in a pocket. Okay, so my dogs have now had these balls to play with for months and finally put tiny holes in both. The holes are so small you can't see them, but you can hear air escaping when they chew on them. One actually folded in on itself one time but I was able to pop it right back out, throw it again, and watch my happy aggressive chewer catch it on the first bounce. And they both still bounce well! These Chuck It balls are easy to find if left outside because of their bright orange color, rinse off easily with just water when muddy and grunge covered from outdoor play, or you can use any soap or cleaner you prefer without damaging them. Perfect for any dog, big or small - indoors or outside in the dirt. Love these!!

Won't go through "hurricane" or chain-link fencing - dogs LOVE it.
Color: Orange, Size: Large
We've been using this size (large) for about 2 years now. Between our Doberman pinscher and the boxer-pitbull mix, they are tough on toys. These dogs have access to the Chuckit Ultra balls only under supervision and they run like crazy in the backyard while either fetching or holding onto the balls. It keeps our doberman out of trouble because she's running with a ball in her mouth and therefor cannot nip at the other dog when she gets overly excited. Tennis balls are lucky to last one play session with these guys, just for comparison purposes. When throwing the regular size, the ball occasionally went right through our backyard (chain link aka "hurricane") fence -- even though they shouldn't quite fit. The size large balls bounce off the fence; our only problem now is when one of the dogs does a soccer style head-butt and knocks the ball over the fence that way. After 2 years, one ball has a split down the side and two are discolored because they were left outside when we couldn't locate them after a play session. Overall I like these very much and appreciate how well they've held up.
