Time is bittersweet. We can be still, but it still moves through us. I think about that a lot when I look at the reflections and refractions in water (caustics). Every second, water ripples and changes in the light. The very moment you looked at it and saw those reflections, you were the only one on the planet who saw that exact moment. How incredible is that? If another person came by to view the same exact spot in the water, they would see a different pattern on the surface. Clouds, time of day, wind, etc all change the temporary appearance of water. And for the most part, it's out of our control. But to be the only one who saw that water pattern for a split second feels so special. This little painting is but a blip in a larger timeline. I painted this as a reminder that everything is temporary, and everything - even the shortest of moments - can hold miraculous meaning.

Size: 6”x6” on a 1.5” deep cradled canvas. Sides of the canvas are painted a solid blueish periwinkle to match some of the more subtle water ripples.

Description of the scene: Up close painting of water reflections and refractions (caustics). Painting is primarily blue with shades of turquoise, greens, yellows, pinks, and oranges subtlly showing up in some of the water ripples.
