The Golden Monkey Flowerhorn (GM) is one of the most exclusive and prized Flowerhorn cichlids in the world. Known for its massive kok (nuchal hump), golden metallic sheen, and thick pearling, the GM is a true collector’s fish. Each specimen is unique, making it highly sought after by serious hobbyists and Flowerhorn breeders.
Origin:
A rare strain selectively bred in Malaysia, first developed by Kamfa and Luohan breeders. Golden Monkey Flowerhorns are now recognized as one of the top-tier Flowerhorn varieties.
Feeding:
Carnivorous and omnivorous – thrives on premium high-protein pellets, with supplements of krill, bloodworms, shrimp, and occasional greens to enhance kok size, color intensity, and vitality.
Tank Mates:
Best kept alone or with other large, equally aggressive cichlids in very spacious aquariums. Not suitable for peaceful community tanks.
Aggression:
Extremely aggressive and territorial. Golden Monkeys are dominant fish that require careful planning if housed with others.
Experience Level:
Advanced. The GM demands excellent filtration, frequent water changes, and a large dedicated tank. Its care is best suited for experienced aquarists familiar with large cichlids and Flowerhorn behavior.
