Overview

The Skunk Pygmy Basslet is a beautifully patterned reef fish known for its soft pink to peach body accented by a bold horizontal stripe running from the snout to the tail. Graceful and hardy, this small, active fish adds subtle elegance and personality to any reef or community aquarium.

Origin

Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including Indonesia, the Maldives, and surrounding waters, this species inhabits coral reefs and rocky slopes where it shelters in crevices and overhangs.

Feeding

A carnivorous species that thrives on a diet of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality frozen or pellet diets. Feed once or twice daily for vibrant coloration and optimal health.

Tank Mates

Generally peaceful for a dottyback, the Skunk Pygmy Basslet can coexist with most community fish, including gobies, wrasses, and clownfish. Avoid housing with very timid fish or other Pseudochromis species in smaller aquariums, as mild territorial behavior may occur.

Aggression

Mildly territorial but less aggressive than many other dottybacks. Providing rockwork, caves, and hiding places allows it to establish territory and coexist peacefully with tank mates.

Experience Level

Ideal for beginner to intermediate aquarists. Hardy, reef-safe, and adaptable, the Skunk Pygmy Basslet thrives in a stable marine system and makes a colorful, easy-care addition to most aquariums.

Water Parameters
  • Temperature: 75°F – 80°F (24°C – 27°C)
  • Salinity: 1.020 – 1.025 SG
  • pH: 8.1 – 8.4
  • Alkalinity: 8 – 12 dKH

Peaceful, hardy, and beautifully marked, the Skunk Pygmy Basslet is a fantastic choice for aquarists seeking a small, colorful, and reef-safe fish for their marine setup.

She sat still and licked peanut butter. I clipped nails!! "FINALLY" 😃😄
Color: Mixed, Size: Medium, Color: Mixed, Size: Medium
I have a Belgian Malanois who WILL NOT let me clip her nails. I got this a little bit of peanut butter in the places you can put it under the bottom in little compartments like which she sits and trys to lick it all out of every little cranny and while doing that, BOOM nails clipped and filed. Great product and worked exactly as I needed. Highly suggest if ya need the fur baby to sit still while you brush alor clip whatever you need, it works and if it works for my Dog a Belgian Malanois-look them up-it will def work for yours!!!! Oh yeah another great thing is it's nearly indestructible. I say nearly because she will prove me wrong if I say it is completely indestructible. Good buy. I suggest it for sure.

Plastic cut my dog
Color: Mixed, Size: Medium
If your pet chews a lot do not buy. My dog chewed the plastic and cut her nose when grabbing the toy because of how sharp it became.

Great toy!
Color: Grass Green, Size: Medium
We have a boxer and pit mix and he destroys everything. This toy however lasted the longest. He played with this every day and he plays very rough. But after 3 months I finally threw it out. It was still in tact but it was about to start falling apart. I will definitely buy another one.

Great for aggressive chewers
Color: Mixed, Size: Medium
This toy held up well. My dog is a very aggressive chewer and will shred apart any toy she can. She was not able to tear up this one. I have not found many toys that she doesn't destroy
