Antique Victorian Mourning ring; Circa 1891

A classic Victorian mourning ring. Dating to 1891 it embodies the understated elegance and sentimentality that make these pieces so appealing.

Created in 9 carat gold, the ring is designed with a simple rounded panel to the front. At its centre sit four luminous pearls, clustered together and framed by a border of rich black enamel. The contrast between the soft glow of the pearls and the dark enamel creates a timeless look that is instantly recognisable as Victorian mourning jewellery. Pearls were frequently used in memorial jewels symbolising tears in remembrance of a loved one. 

The shoulders are decorated with elegant chevron engraving, adding an extra layer of detail. These finely engraved elements catch the light beautifully and demonstrate the care and craftsmanship invested in even the most personal pieces of Victorian jewellery.
