Anatomy and Asana offers an easy and successful method to learn anatomy and its relationship to yoga in a way that helps prevent injuries. It is written by a certified yoga teacher with a diverse background in kinesiology, ergonomics, and physical rehabilitation.

Anatomy and Asana answers many practical questions that are often asked by yoga students – about back pain, knee pain, and shoulder pain; about clenching the butt in back bends, and how to release the hamstrings or prevent hamstring tearing in forward bends. The book combines hands-on information with illuminating drawings, stories, and helpful tips to show you how to practice yoga with less pain. It informs without overwhelming the reader with too much information.

Anatomy and Asana is divided into four parts: basics of anatomy; language of anatomy and movement; the eight essential principles of movement as they relate to yoga; and application of these principles to specific groups of yoga asanas: standing poses, back bends, forward bends, twists, and inversions. For each group, the book shows where there is a tendency for injury and what you can do to instill space in your body and thereby prevent injury from occurring.

Reviews

"Anatomy and Asana is profound in its simplicity. Yoga teacher trainees and instructors will find immense value in the precision with which information is presented and illustrated. Every yoga teacher training program should require this book in its curriculum."
—Karen M. Rider, M. A., Sacred Rivers Yoga Teacher Training Program

"Susi’s presentation is simple to understand and very clear . . . This is a great book and will be helpful for teachers and serious students. I think Anatomy and Asana should be on required reading lists for yoga teacher training programs. It has tremendous value as an anatomy primer."
—Margot Kitchen, Senior Iyengar Teacher

"I love the clarity and insight of Susi’s applied anatomy. She goes right to the key areas of relevance for yoga practitioners and offers her years of skilled knowledge in potent synthesized and visual material that will benefit students and teachers from all backgrounds. Highly recommended!"
—Shiva Rea, Yoga Teacher

"As a yoga teacher of six years, I found Anatomy and Asana: Preventing Yoga Injuries to be extremely helpful. It came to me at the perfect time when I was eager to expand my knowledge of anatomy and the practice of yoga asanas. I wanted to learn more about the individual muscles used in different poses, the proper alignments for preventing injuries, and the physiological occurrences in the body with the movements of a yoga practice. This book satisfied all these wants. The detailed and easy to follow drawings were clearly presented. Helpful exercises are provided to expand your awareness of particular areas. I found myself lingering in sections of the book, trying out and exploring deeper areas of the body with my yoga sessions. My fellow yogis really enjoy all the new opportunities to explore their bodies more deeply. This is a book I will use as a resource after I re-read it several times, as it is packed with information. It is an excellent resource for both teachers and students of yoga who wish to further their understanding of the anatomy behind their practice."

Definitely a comfort read
Format: Kindle
Just a comfy cozy nice long read. While this is definitely a SLOOOOOOOOWWWWW burn, this is how you do RH right; a nice long novel where you actually get to know the characters so you can feel more connected to them & the story, not to mention getting enough time to actually remember all their names haha. & they are all consent kings. Also I do so love me some double omega OV, siiiigh (heart eyes). I wish there had been juuust a bit more spice, like maybe just between Elias & others before MC was ready (made Elias feel a bit underdone or gimmicky without it), I did love this read. Low stress, comfy read. It could've used another round of editing for some minor errors & type issues but it wasn't bad enough to pull ne out of the story. Though I did giggle at 'knecks', thinking kuh-necks in my head. Overall I'd say 9/10

beautiful story
Format: Kindle
I absolutely love this book, however there is quite a bit repetition! The storyline makes up for it, a just skipped them. I like that this was a cozy read, it’s an omegaverse romance, but really barely read as OV, you get a little hierarchy and scent blockers, but if not for that you wouldn’t know. I love the romance aspect however, they take there time and move at her pace! A good read, with some errors, hopefully there is more to come!!

I loved the concept of the story but it went no where painfully slow! There was so much repetition that I skimmed and only paid attention whenever I saw quotation marks. I need...yes we know what you need....said 125 times grew frustrating and tiresome! And what does progressive mean in this boom? There are 3 alphas and 2 omegas...is that different or is it bc of the 3 alphas and Lucian was the really alpha one. The sex was very disappointing too....very G rated in my spice level. There is no epilogue and I think it was like 80 something chapters! I should have read the reviews but the sample got me good! What does soren do for a living? Are the men sexual w eachother bc they did not show that in this story if you are worried about that. It was jus so painstakingly slooowwwwww!!! I get why but dang! Just beware g rated and slow paced w alot of repetition!

It's great but be warned...
Format: Kindle
I enjoyed the idea of this story. I really did! The story was great, the characters were great, and I had a decent enough time reading. I did however, find myself forcing myself to finish this and skimming through a lot of the series. The pacing was slow which is fine, but it was repetitive. Every single conversation Lydia had with these men always had to have some deeper meaning. Even when I thought there would be a light hearted reprieve, it always ended with another lecture or bit of advice. It felt like I was watching her interact with her multitude of therapists than men she was being courted by. I understand this was a path of healing for her but it got very old very fast. It felt excessive in every way to me and this aspect never changed throughout the entire story. Imagine reading an overly inspirational self help book where they tried to make it interesting by throwing in romance? Which again, could work in many cases but it was so excessive to me. That being said, I still think it was a great story and I think everyone should give this a chance!

Absolutely perfect
Format: Kindle
All of the characters are so expertly developed. They all support Lydia with unwavering understanding while she slowly opens up. I liked that the main conflict wasn’t between the pack and it instead pulled them closer together. This is honestly such a perfect feel good cozy omegaverse. There were some typos sprinkled through out but not enough to be irritating.
