Ethan Allen is considered to be the father of the pepperbox revolver. This important book gives complete details on him, the years during which he worked, the pistol which he perfected and the other arms which he and his companies manufactured.

The pepperbox was probably the most important gun produced during the first half of the 19th century. It was used in the expansion of settlement to the west from 1837 onward, and was considered to be good protection from "bandits, renegades or Indians." It was the only multi-shot weapon available and there were distributors · spread from Boston to California. Its quality, price and effectiveness made it a most significant factor in the opening of the west.

The pepperbox was only one of the arms made by Ethan Allen and his companies located at Grafton, Mass., Norwich, Conn., and Worcester, Mass. from 1831 to 1871. They also manufactured s ingle shot pistols, rifles, percussion revolvers, lip fire revolvers and many other arms designed for protection or sport. Each is thoroughly detailed in this very fully researched book.

Ethan Allen stated that he started his business with $12.00, but the companies which he headed, Allen & Thurber, Allen Thurber & Co., Allen & Wheelock, and E. Allen & Co., were leading manufacturers in their era and in their area.

The author's training and vocation have forced him to treat this as an economic study but his avocation has compelled him to treat it as a collector's reference. With the addition of Dun & Bradstreet statistics and other financial details for the various companies, facts about the period in which each arm was developed, and some 300 photographic and line illustrations of the people, arms and patents, he has succeeded with both requirements to produce a book which will serve a most useful function when taken from the shelves of any librarian, historian or collector.

My New Favorite Socks
Size: 6-10, Color: Halo Gray/Assorted
These have quickly become mine and my mom's favorite socks. We wear them with tennis shoes, Hey Dudes, and more. The fabric is incredibly soft and comfortable, they do not budge/fall in my shoe, and are extremely well made. I have become so attached to these socks, that I no longer want any other brand.

Very good product
Size: Medium, Color: (001) Black / Black / Pitch Gray
I purchased these to wear inside lowcut slip on casual shoes, I don't particularly like to not wear socks in my shoes for hygienic reasons. Prior to purchasing these socks, all I could find were those made of very light beige hosiery type material , and my slip on shoes would slide around a bit. These are light weight and breathable athletic type material, with a very good gripper strip at the heel. One pair of my slip on casual shoes have a particularly lower cut in the toe area, but the shoe is black and I chose the black color and though I see a hint of the sock there, it matches and does not detract from the look of the casual solid black shoe

They stay out! No more sock wads!
Size: Medium, Color: (100) White / White / Mod Gray
Best no show socks ever made!!!!! I've been struggling for 2 years to find ones that actually stay on your foot, even other national brands, and I just became content wearing my sneakers without socks. They ALWAYS slid down into my show & I ended up walking on a wad of sock until I could fix it...or usually just took them off after a couple of tries. Enter Under Armor!!! They a mid weight, but not very thick & still breathable. They work too by actually staying on your foot! Not once have they slid down into my show!! Very comfortable but they could be a little more affordable.
