What are the most important lessons the New Testament has to teach us about being a Christian?

Sinclair Ferguson shows that a deep-seated concern of the writers of the New Testament was to see Christians grow to spiritual maturity—and if that was the concern of the first believers, then it should be our concern too.

In clear and logical chapters that are rooted in the reality of the Christian life, the author, who has had long experience in pastoral ministry and seminary teaching, seeks to show what Christian maturity is, and how it is to be obtained.

It was the apostle Paul’s desire to present those to whom he ministered ‘mature in Christ’—for such a maturity would lead to stable, servant-hearted Christians, and healthy, fruit-bearing churches.

All those who desire to live useful, mature, and consistent Christian lives will gain much wisdom from reading and reflecting upon the contents of this book.

______________

Classic Ferguson. As the MacArthur endorsement above says, it’s simply doctrine straight from Scripture. The author, after introducing maturity, takes various important themes around growing into Maturity in Christ and exposits a passage or two in the chapter to explain what that looks like in practice. You simply can’t go wrong with anything that Sinclair Ferguson had written. It’s always faithful to Scripture, God honouring and very helpful in shaping our thought, driving us to Christ as well as pointing us to the Saviour from any passage used. Thorough is a word I’d use to describe the book and others by the same author. You will not regret reading this book. It addresses an ever growing issue in our day with profound Biblical insight and pastoral wisdom. Read it, and let the Lord use it to encourage you further towards maturity in Christ! Highly recommended! Benjamin Hegan

Great info TINY BOOK
Format: Paperback
There’s small, and then there’s this book. It’s true that this is a pocket size book. Look at the dimensions and then imagine 6pt font. Giving it four stars because info is great- succinct, useful, and up to date! But taking away one star because it should come with a magnifying lens.

In paper, excellent, as Kindle book, useless
I've used this book, in early editions, in paper (remember that?), for years. Excellent pocket manual. But as a Kindle book, it's useless, unless you have Superman's microscopic vision.
