N was often assigned to Tiger and Panther units to provide close range infantry support, since the long barrel tanks were less suited to engaging soft targets and enemy troops

Converted from earlier Ausf.J/L/M hulls, the Ausf.N was often assigned to Tiger and Panther units to provide close-range infantry support, since the long-barrel tanks were less suited to engaging soft targets and enemy troops at short range.
