Alibi, photographed by Chinese photographer Zeehaan, focuses on individuals living in the gaps of Shanghai’s dominant narratives and their working spaces—neither “modern” nor “traditional.”

The zine contains no fashion figures of the modern city, no traditional culture reduced to spectacle, and no beneficiaries or casualties of the cutting-edge technologies.

Their existence is both excluded from the grand narrative and, at the same time, drifts within its framework in an ambiguous, marginal position—they remain in the gaps and margins of urban storytelling.
