Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones was a preacher who focused on the unchanging, recurring needs of human beings and the everlasting good news of God’s grace.

This book was the last I read in my 3,5 year reading through all the published sermons of Martyn Lloyd-Jones. According to my calculation 1,608 sermons are in print, most books are good available, new or used. Although I am immersed in MLJ’s emphases, this book was a very fine and fresh one. I especially enjoyed chapters 10-13. As with all his books, every one is exciting and so profound. Especially if your motive for reading is not only intellectual, but also to be fed for your soul. To God be the glory that Banner of Truth has published so many sermons of Martyn Lloyd-Jones. Hopefully they will publish more evangelistic sermons. I think most of the sermons preached on Sunday mornings and Friday nights are published now. However there are plenty of Sunday evening sermons unpublished yet but probably already transcribed. There are also many sermons previously published in The Westminster Record which can easily go in print! Martijn de Groot
