An oxygen concentrator works by drawing ordinary room air in through its filters, separating the oxygen from the nitrogen and other gases, and delivering concentrated oxygen through a nasal cannula (small nose tubes) directly to the patient. As long as the unit is plugged into a standard household outlet, it produces oxygen continuously — with nothing to run out, no deliveries to schedule, and no heavy tanks to store or replace.

The Rhythm Healthcare LM5BA delivers up to 5 liters per minute (LPM) of oxygen at a concentration of 90%–96% — meeting the clinical standard for supplemental oxygen therapy. An onboard Oxygen Purity Sensor continuously monitors the concentration of oxygen being delivered and alerts you if it falls outside the therapeutic range, giving patients and caregivers an important layer of safety and confidence.

A built-in Integrated Fire Safety Valve provides an additional layer of protection — automatically shutting off oxygen flow in the event of a fire hazard, a critical safety feature in a home oxygen environment.

The LM5BA now comes standard with a Transfill Port, allowing the concentrator to fill portable oxygen cylinders directly from the unit at home. This is a significant practical advantage: rather than waiting for cylinder deliveries or running out of portable oxygen unexpectedly, patients can keep their portable tanks filled and ready for outings and appointments without leaving the house.

Three-stage filtration — sponge pre-filter, HEPA inlet filter, and bacterial filter — ensures the air processed by the unit is clean and the oxygen delivered is free from contaminants.
