There is something grounding about a cup that feels substantial, regardless of its size. For an espresso shot, where temperature is everything, the material of the vessel is as important as the roast.

"As a designer, I am drawn to the tension between the smooth glaze and the raw clay base of the Silo Espresso Cup," says Jordan. "It’s a beautiful functional contrast. In my Putnam studio, I chose this specific piece for the Mercantile because the thick-walled stoneware provides the thermal mass needed to keep a double shot or a cortado at the perfect temperature while you work. It bridges the gap between a tool and a piece of wheel-thrown art".
