This book delves into the history of the Soviet Navy’s cruisers, showcasing their evolution from the early days of the October Revolution to their crucial role in World War II.

Renowned military historian Alexander Hill guides you through the development of the Soviet cruiser fleet, a diverse collection of ships inherited from the Imperial Russian Navy and those built later.

Explore the stories of the Kirov class cruisers, the first large warships built by the Soviets, and the acquisition of the unfinished Lützow from Nazi Germany.

Discover the story of the Marti, formerly the Imperial royal yacht Shtandart, repurposed as a minelayer and instrumental in the defense of Leningrad.

Illustrated with rare photographs and original artwork, including a cutaway of the Aurora, famous for its role in the Bolshevik Revolution, this book reveals the Soviets’ strategic development of their cruiser force.

Based on extensive research in Russian-language sources, this study sheds light on the significant role these cruisers played in World War II, particularly in supporting the Red Army.

Not a Users Guide
Format: Paperback
Although many readers may find this book useful, it describes a particular approach to Powerpoint. It is not anything like a comprehensive users guide.

Just linear
Format: Paperback
I appreciate that it helps to organize the chaos of information, but I just used the template verbatim with my manager and it did not go very well. He said this linear approach does not work anymore with high-level corporate audiences. They want to cut right to the chase and start to dig into the deep details. This layout with simple images, even if you just pull away the map and anchor slides, makes the storytelling too much like a story, not giving enough credit to the speed at which certain audiences can and do process data on a slide. It was an interesting exercise and I still think this linear layout works in some cases. Just not if you are trying to communicate business case or other C-suite type of information.
