A rare and deeply fascinating Victorian mounting ring. Created in rich 15 carat gold and standing out by its remarkable hidden feature. The band is substantial and reassuring in weight, its entire surface beautifully hand engraved with intricate floral motifs. A celebration of the Victorian love of nature and ornament.

On closer inspection, the design reveals a continuous series of finely worked panels encircling the band. Concealed within this decoration is a discreet mechanism: when gently pushed, it opens to reveal a compartments containing plaited hair work within the ring. Such pieces were profoundly sentimental, intended to hold a physical remembrance of a loved one, making the jewel as emotional as it is beautiful.

The craftsmanship is exceptional, both in the precision of the engraving and the ingenuity of the concealed locket design. A testament to the technical skill of Victorian goldsmiths. Rings of this complexity and quality are seldom found particularly with the mechanism intact.

It's what'd you would expect

I work in espresso professionally and got this as a tester for ergonomic purposes. It does its job as a tamper and does level with little dusting from it being 58.5mm. The self leveling does work. However depending on my baskets (using vst now) it will.self level where the lowest part of the puck is handle side and highest.part opposite. Not an issue with the tamp but something to be mindful of. Works perfectly well on my gaggia setup...not so much commercial grade. The spring is adequate but i tend to tamp a bit harder on heavy weather days.. Build quality is fine but i would have rather used a regular style tamper. Also palm tampers pretty much need to be self leveling based on the ergonomic nature.

If you have too much coffee in your basket and they're near the rim of it, coffee can get stuck to the sides of the distributor. A little annoying but easily remedied by brushing the grounds back into the basket or by "flattening" the coffee grounds in the basket first prior to distributing.
