Fancy Dancer, Bobbi Humphrey’s fifth studio album, was recorded in 1975 and released on the Blue Note label.
Thom Jurek of Allmusic gave the album a 4-star rating, praising its lack of filler tracks and stating that it’s “all killer, no filler.” While some jazz critics may have had reservations about the album, it resonated with the public, as Humphrey and the Mizells created a unique blend of largely instrumental funk that incorporated elements from world music, soul-jazz, club music, and pop.
