  • Read Intensive (RI) optimization: Specifically engineered for read-dominant environments, this drive maintains consistent performance for long-running read workloads, while offering dependable boot and caching capabilities.
  • Enterprise reliability: Built to meet data-center demands, it features robust error correction, wear leveling, and protection mechanisms designed to endure sustained operation in dense deployments.
  • Efficient, high-capacity storage: With 1.92 TB of capacity in a compact 2.5-inch form factor, it provides dense storage and efficient power use, helping to reduce cooling requirements and energy costs in large-scale systems.
  • Broad compatibility and easy integration: Designed for U.3 backplanes and standard 2.5" drive bays, it integrates smoothly with HPE servers and many enterprise storage ecosystems that support PCIe NVMe drives.

Technical Details of HPE PM1733 1.92 TB Solid State Drive

  • Model: HPE PM1733 1.92 TB NVMe Read Intensive SSD
  • Form Factor: 2.5-inch internal
  • Interface: PCIe NVMe x4
  • Interface Standard: U.3 (PCIe NVMe) drive interface
  • Capacity: 1.92 TB
  • Drive Type: Read Intensive (RI) SSD
  • Target Workloads: Read caching, OS boot, bulk storage, email servers, social media caching

How to install HPE PM1733 1.92 TB NVMe Read Intensive SSD

  • Step 1: Power down the system, disconnect power, and prepare an electrostatic discharge–safe workspace. Gather mounting screws and any required backplane adapters compatible with the server.
  • Step 2: Identify a compatible 2.5-inch drive bay or U.3 NVMe backplane slot that supports PCIe NVMe drives. Confirm the server or chassis firmware and backplane support the PM1733 RI.
  • Step 3: If replacing an existing drive, remove the old unit according to the chassis or hot-swap tray instructions. If adding a new slot, ensure the slot is unoccupied and ready for a new device.
  • Step 4: Align the PM1733 RI with the connector and slide it into the drive bay or backplane until seated. Secure with the appropriate screws or lock the hot-swap tray as required by your chassis.
  • Step 5: Reconnect power and data interfaces. Power on the system and enter BIOS/UEFI to verify the drive is detected. Update the drive firmware if available, initialize the device in the operating system, and format it according to your deployment plan (e.g., a dedicated cache, boot volume, or data store).

Frequently asked questions

Q: What does Read Intensive mean for this NVMe SSD?

A: Read Intensive indicates the drive is optimized for read-heavy workloads, delivering strong read IOPs and low latency for data retrieval tasks. Write performance and endurance are balanced for typical enterprise scenarios, making it well-suited for caching, boot, and bulk storage where reads predominate.

Q: Is the PM1733 RI suitable for operating system boot and cache roles?

A: Yes. The PM1733 RI is designed to support OS boot volumes and high-demand cache functions, providing fast boot times and rapid access to frequently used system data and applications.

Q: What servers and backplanes are compatible with this drive?

A: The PM1733 RI is intended for enterprise servers and backplanes that support 2.5-inch NVMe drives with a U.3 interface. It is compatible with many HPE server platforms and other enterprise systems that accept PCIe NVMe 2.5-inch drives.

Q: How should I configure multiple PM1733 RI drives in a deployment?

A: For multi-drive configurations, configure storage pools or logical volumes to align with your performance and redundancy goals. Ensure firmware is up to date and utilize recommended management tools to monitor health, SMART attributes, and wear leveling across the array.

Q: What about warranty and support?

A: The PM1733 RI comes with the standard warranty terms provided by the manufacturer. Warranty availability and terms vary by region and vendor policy; consult your reseller or HP support for exact coverage details.

Great new beginning
Format: Kindle
I didn't really care for the Krakoan era as a whole, and knowing how comics, especially the X-Men, go through cycles every few years, knew it wouldn't last. I'm especially glad to see the somewhat bland logos go and the classic ones return. I like this line up so far, especially the inclusion of the Juggernaut. I remember reading the comics years ago when he first switched sides, and was.disappointed when he went back to being bad. I haven't read the concluding chapters of the Krakoan era yet, so seeing a "classic" version of the Beast is a little surprising since the last time I saw him he had turned into an evil piece of %#@+. The story by Jed MacKay was interesting and entertaining, as I knew it would be. I've always enjoyed Ryan Stegman's art. Looking forward to more of this series and the other X-Men books, especially Uncanny X-Men.

More of the same
Format: Kindle
I haven’t read X-Men comics in years, but decided to dive back in as a supplement to all the Marvel Cinematic buzz. The plot seems like standard X-Men fare. The weakness of the comic medium, particularly for characters like the X-Men, is the holding pattern of the status quo that the characters are constantly suck in. I’m not sure if this series will deliver a clever twist on it yet. The dynamic they are setting up with the downtrodden Sentinel manufacturing town is interesting, as is the implicit aspiration of the X-Men to replenish the land itself. I am enjoying the team composition and the gorgeous art. They decided to crucify Wolverine again and it looked cool as ever. Juggernaut’s costume, too, is incredibly drawn.

Krakoa is gone, but a new era begins!
Format: Kindle
I was pleased to see this was not a reboot but a continuation in the aftermath of the Fall of the House of X. MacKay certainly started off this new run on the right foot, ending with intrigue and introducing potentially new big bads. Excited to throw my money at Marvel in the months to come.

FROM THE ASHES… ?
Format: Kindle
As a longtime comics enthusiast and certainly a faithful fan of Marvel’s mightiest man, there’s something left to be desired of the 70s into 80s era of X-MEN that marked its genius. Chris Claremont is legendary in his scope and his indelible style that helps make the X-Men something of flesh and bone that jumped off the page. Unfortunately that hasn’t been properly passed, and the torch hasn’t landed in the hands of creatives who can really capture that spirit. It’s hard to recognize any of these characters, or connect with their situation. This group of X-Men and their mission (whatever it is) are uninteresting, uninspired and lacking any authenticity. Interestingly written, the art has some textured, but the story isn’t engaging. I really wanted to like and support this “all-new, all-different” direction, but I can’t. This is not for me.
