The first history of the United States told from the perspective of indigenous peoples
Today in the United States, there are more than five hundred federally recognized Indigenous nations comprising nearly three million people, descendants of the fifteen million Native people who once inhabited this land. The centuries-long genocidal program of the US settler-colonial regimen has largely been omitted from history. Now, for the first time, acclaimed historian and activist Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz offers a history of the United States told from the perspective of Indigenous peoples and reveals how Native Americans, for centuries, actively resisted expansion of the US empire.
With growing support for movements such as the campaign to abolish Columbus Day and replace it with Indigenous Peoples’ Day and the Dakota Access Pipeline protest led by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States is an essential resource providing historical threads that are crucial for understanding the present. In An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States, Dunbar-Ortiz adroitly challenges the founding myth of the United States and shows how policy against the Indigenous peoples was colonialist and designed to seize the territories of the original inhabitants, displacing or eliminating them. And as Dunbar-Ortiz reveals, this policy was praised in popular culture, through writers like James Fenimore Cooper and Walt Whitman, and in the highest offices of government and the military. Shockingly, as the genocidal policy reached its zenith under President Andrew Jackson, its ruthlessness was best articulated by US Army general Thomas S. Jesup, who, in 1836, wrote of the Seminoles: “The country can be rid of them only by exterminating them.”
Spanning more than four hundred years, this classic bottom-up peoples’ history radically reframes US history and explodes the silences that have haunted our national narrative.
An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States is a 2015 PEN Oakland-Josephine Miles Award for Excellence in Literature.

Goes on smooth and great color
Color: Deep Brown, Size: 0.006 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Long lasting buildable color and glides on smoothly. Comparable quality and color payout to other more expensive brands. If you're not sure what color you are, the taupe is a good choice. The harder you press, the deeper the color. Great product for the price!

Brow perfection!
Color: Blonde, Size: 0.006 Ounce (Pack of 1)
This turned out to be one of my best purchases and so economical! I have a subscription for these brow pencils. Easy to apply, excellent staying power and so easy to carry with you. The color is saturated and perfect for my fair skin and blonde hair. You will not be disappointed! What a value!

Perfect glide and included brush
Color: Neutral Brown, Size: 0.006 Ounce (Pack of 2)
I love this eyebrow pencil because of the perfect shade of brown, smooth glide, and included eyebrow brush on the other side! I always needs to comb up eyebrows up after filling them in and it is so convenient to have the brush at the other end of the pencil. The only thing I don't like is that the pencils do not last very long. If used daily, my pencil lasts about 4-6 weeks total. However, it is affordable for that time frame so I continue to buy it for the good quality.

We Love e.l.f.!
Color: Taupe, Size: 0.006 Ounce (Pack of 1), Color: Taupe, Size: 0.006 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I love e.l.f., and at this point I feel like half my makeup bag is from them because they keep getting it right and for a great price. I got this brow pencil in the taupe shade and the color is exactly what I was hoping for. It’s soft and natural looking without pulling too warm or making my brows look too dark and heavy. It fills everything in nicely while still looking like real brows. For reference I have blonde highlights and lighter features so if I use anything too dark it looks unnatural.
The pencil tip is small enough to do little hair-like strokes, which I love for sparse areas, but it’s also easy to blend and shade quickly when I’m getting ready in a rush. The formula has a really nice texture too. It’s not too waxy or too creamy, so it glides on smoothly without smearing everywhere. The spoolie is actually useful too and helps soften everything so my brows look natural instead of overdone.
For the price, this is such a good everyday brow pencil and definitely another e.l.f. product I’ll keep purchasing.

Great for building a natural brow definition & body
Color: Taupe, Size: 0.006 Ounce (Pack of 1), Color: Taupe, Size: 0.006 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I love this eyebrow pen when I’m going for a more natural look with my everyday makeup. Great price for a great product. I brush my eyebrows out, apply with the grain of my brows and finish with another good brush throw to blend the product and it looks great. I get the color Taupe as I have dirty blonde hair, and the match is great for my brows. Quick and easy pick me up to give my brows some extra structure and definition.
