The Cisco 10/25GBASE-CSR SFP28 Module for MMF delivers flexible, high-speed Ethernet connectivity over multimode fiber, designed to scale your data center and campus networks with minimal cabling changes. This compact optical transceiver supports both 10GBASE and 25GBASE-CSR operation over OM3 and OM4 multimode fiber, empowering you to upgrade bandwidth without ripping out existing fiber. Built to Cisco’s standards, it offers reliable performance, straightforward installation, and proven interoperability within Cisco ecosystems, making it an ideal choice for enterprises seeking a cost‑effective path to higher throughput.

  • Dual‑rate capability for smooth migrations: This SFP28 module supports 10GBASE and 25GBASE‑CSR over multimode fiber, enabling you to scale from 10G to 25G without replacing fiber. It provides link lengths of up to 300/400 meters over OM3/OM4 at both 10G and 25G, giving you the flexibility to plan phased upgrades across data centers, server farms, and aggregated campus links while preserving your existing fiber backbone.
  • MMF compatibility with robust reach options: The module is designed for OM3/OM4 multimode fiber, ensuring compatibility with widely deployed fiber types in modern networks. Practical reach varies with forward-error-correction (FEC) configurations: with BASE‑R FEC you can achieve 70/100 meters, which supports more forgiving fiber paths and tighter link budgets, while operation without FEC is shorter, aligning with more conservative deployments. For 25G operation, RS‑FEC on the host port is required to realize full reach.
  • FEC-based performance and reliability: The transceiver’s performance is optimized when paired with host‑side FEC. RS‑FEC enables the full 25G reach specified for this module, helping to maintain data integrity across links that experience noise and dispersion. BASE‑R FEC further extends reach on compatible links, delivering improved error correction without sacrificing throughput.
  • Cisco-validated interoperability: As a Cisco CSR SFP28 module, it is engineered for seamless interoperability with Cisco switches and routers that support CSR optics. The module is a reliable, plug‑and‑play option for Cisco environments, reducing integration risk and enabling faster deployment of higher‑bandwidth fabric across data centers and enterprise networks.
  • Upgrade-ready, cost-efficient solution: By leveraging existing MMF cabling and providing dual‑rate operation, this module offers an economical upgrade path from 10G to 25G. Organizations can amortize fiber investment over a longer period while achieving significant performance gains, avoiding the expense of new fiber builds and extensive re-cabling projects.

How to install Cisco 10/25GBASE-CSR SFP28 Module for MMF

  • Prepare the network device: Ensure the host switch or router supports SFP28 CSR optics and dual‑speed operation (10G/25G). Confirm that the port is configured for CSR mode and that the firmware is up to date to maximize compatibility and performance.
  • Power down or follow hot‑swap guidance: If your equipment supports hot‑swap for SFP modules, follow vendor guidelines. If power cycling is required, perform a safe shutdown of the port or device as recommended by Cisco documentation.
  • Insert the SFP28 module: Align the module with the SFP28 slot and carefully insert it until it seats firmly. You should hear or feel a click when the module is securely in place. Do not force the module, and ensure there are no obstructions in the slot.
  • Connect the MMF fiber: Prepare OM3 or OM4 multimode fiber with the appropriate LC connectors. Connect the transmitter (Tx) on one end to the receiver (Rx) on the opposite end, ensuring correct polarity. Use the same fiber type and fiber pairing on both ends to maintain link integrity.
  • Configure the port for the desired speed: On your Cisco device, configure the interface for 10G or 25G operation as needed. If you plan to use 25G, verify that RS‑FEC is enabled on the host port and, if applicable, enable BASE‑R FEC on the link to optimize reach.
  • Verify link status and performance: Check the interface status to confirm a successful link. Validate the data path with basic tests (ping, throughput, or a short file transfer) and monitor error counters. If errors occur, inspect the fiber connectors and ensure the correct FEC configuration is in place.
  • Document and monitor: Record the module’s slot, speed, and fiber path in your network inventory. Implement ongoing monitoring for link quality and utilization to catch potential degradation over time and to plan future capacity upgrades.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: Is this Cisco 10/25GBASE-CSR SFP28 Module compatible with non‑Cisco devices?
A: The module is designed for Cisco CSR optics and is certified for Cisco systems. Compatibility with non‑Cisco devices depends on the vendor’s support for CSR optics and SFP28 transceivers; always verify with the device manufacturer’s interoperability matrix before deployment.
  • Q: What is the maximum reach at 10G and 25G?
A: The module supports up to 300/400 meters over OM3/OM4 at both 10G and 25G. Reach can be extended or reduced based on FEC configurations and the host device’s capabilities. For full 25G reach, RS‑FEC on the host is required, and BASE‑R FEC can extend reach to approximately 70/100 meters on OM3/OM4.
  • Q: Do I need to enable FEC to operate the module?
A: Yes. RS‑FEC on the host port is required for full 25G reach. BASE‑R FEC can improve reach under certain conditions, while operating without FEC will generally reduce maximum distance.

Exactly As Advertised
Size: 500 Sheets (20lb)
What can you say about printer paper? It needs to be the right size, the right weight, the right color. This fits all those requirements perfectly. I only take away one star because it is so Basic, just like the title says: it is printer/typing paper and it does a great job of that. It does not cost an arm and a leg, like some paper does. I have run half a ream through my printer so far and no jams or misfeeds.

Nice paper, badly packed for delivery
Size: 800 Sheets (24lb), Size: 800 Sheets (24lb)
The paper is good, the price is decent, but they threw this oversize "ream" in a box and let it bounce around. The box was about an inch or two larger in all three dimensions than the paper, and they didn't put any packing paper in the box to hold it in place. The paper itself arrived mostly undamaged but the wrapper was destroyed. Since most of the paper was OK, I didn't want to make an issue out of it with Amazon and send it back, and risk having another "ream" arrive in even worse condition.

Very Good Paper for Everyday Personal and Business Use
Size: 1500 Sheets (24lb)
I have purchased these 3 packs of this 24lb letter-sized paper several times. It is just fine for everyday usage and I have no problem with it in my Canon B&W and Color laser printers. Print quality is good and sharp. This is much better than the fairly flimsy 20lb and is very suitable for ordinary business usage. It also works quite well for two-sided printing as the back side does not show through. But it is not 28lb+ manuscript quality and should not be expected to be.

My Go-To Sublimation Paper — Flawless Results Every Time
Size: 8.5"x11", Size: 8.5"x11"
This is hands down the best sublimation paper I’ve used and the only one I continue to buy. I get a perfect transfer every single time—no fracturing, no fading, and no uneven results. The paper dries fast, which makes my workflow so much smoother, especially when I’m producing items in batches. I use this regularly to make air fresheners and tote bags for my small business, and the color payoff is always vibrant and crisp. The transfer rate is excellent, and it works beautifully on light-colored, high-quality polyester and other sublimation-ready surfaces. If you’re a small business owner or crafter who values consistency, quality, and ease of use, this paper is absolutely worth it. I highly recommend it and will continue to repurchase.
