Rectoral do Umia is one of a handful of wineries in Galicia in North West Spain under the ownership of Family Wine Group Vinos y Bodegas Gallegas. The state of the art Rectoral do Umia winery, where Abellio Albarino is made, is located in the Salnes Valley and was built in 2009. The vineyards are located on some of the best sites of Rias Baixas. The fruit, hand-harvested in early September, reaches the winery within two hours of harvest in 18 kg crates. The grapes are de-stemmed and macerated prior to a light crush and fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, to retain flavour and freshness.
