Experience robust, long-distance RS-232 communication over coax with the Black Box 232-Coax Balun. This purpose-built pair of drivers converts standard RS-232 signals for transmission over existing coax networks, unlocking remote serial links across facilities, campuses, or industrial sites. Whether you’re extending a legacy serial console to a distant control room, performing equipment telemetry, or integrating legacy devices into a modern SCADA system, this balun delivers reliability, simplicity, and cost efficiency without demanding fiber installs or expensive protocol changes. Built for industrial environments, it excels where noise, EMI, and long cable runs would normally degrade data integrity. The result is a dependable serial backbone that preserves timing, minimizes data loss, and opens up opportunities for remote monitoring and control.

  • Long-distance RS-232 over coax: The Black Box 232-Coax Balun lets you push RS-232 data across coax for up to 10 miles (16 km) at a conservative 1.2 kbps. This capability is a game-changer for remote instrument panels, centralized controllers, and distributed sensor networks where a direct serial cable simply isn’t feasible. By leveraging a coax-based transport, you gain a reliable, shielded path that reduces susceptibility to common electrical disturbances while maintaining stable data timing and predictable performance. In practice, you can place your serial devices in secure, isolated areas and still receive timely status updates, command responses, and logged data back at the main controller.
  • Pair-based simplicity and compatibility: To deploy, you use a matched pair of baluns connected by your own coax run. One unit sits at the RS-232 source, the other at the remote device, translating the serial signal into a form that travels cleanly along coax and then back into RS-232 on the other end. This design minimizes network changes, preserves your existing serial hardware, and avoids the need for new interfaces or expensive custom cabling. It’s an elegant, plug-and-play approach that integrates with standard RS-232 devices—perfect for labs, production lines, and building-management systems that rely on time-tested serial communications.
  • Low-speed, high-reliability operation: Catering to control commands, telemetry strings, and status lines, the 1.2 kbps ceiling prioritizes reliability over throughput. The coax carrier and differential signaling techniques reduce common-mode noise and electromagnetic interference, helping protect data integrity over long distances. This makes the balun especially well-suited for industrial environments where motors, drives, and HVAC systems generate electrical noise. The result is fewer retransmissions, smoother monitoring dashboards, and more consistent control loops, even when the physical path crosses noisy plant floors or data halls.
  • Easy integration with existing infrastructure: Designed with practical deployment in mind, the balun leverages your current coax backbone and standard RS-232 interfaces. There’s no need to adopt new communication protocols or overhaul your serial software. You can reuse existing terminals, printers, remote sensors, or PLCs, while extending reach to remote cabinets or satellite equipment. The compact form factor and straightforward cabling allow rapid installation in enclosures, on racks, or inside equipment housings, enabling scalable expansion as your system grows.
  • Versatile applications for remote control and data collection: The 10-mile link is ideal for remote data collection, SCADA telemetry, building automation, and distributed control architectures. Use cases include remote console access, PLC communications, environmental monitoring, and diagnostic interfaces that benefit from a stable, low-speed serial link. By using existing coax networks, you cut down on new cabling, reduce downtime, and accelerate deployment, all while keeping compatibility with your time-tested RS-232 devices and software. The Black Box 232-Coax Balun helps you bridge the gap between legacy hardware and modern facility layouts, enabling smarter, more centralized management of distributed systems.

Technical Details of Black Box 232-Coax Balun

  • Distance capability: Up to 10 miles (16 km) over coax at 1.2 kbps data rate.
  • Signal conversion: RS-232 to coax conversion using paired drivers to transmit serial data across long distances.
  • Topology: Requires a matching pair of baluns and your own coax cable to complete the link.
  • Compatibility: Designed for RS-232 devices and standard serial ports with common data signaling conventions.
  • Environment: Suitable for industrial and commercial settings where long coax runs are preferred for existing infrastructure.

How to install Black Box 232-Coax Balun

  • Plan your link by identifying the RS-232 source and remote device, then verify baud rate and data format compatibility with 1.2 kbps.
  • Connect the transmitter balun to the source RS-232 port using a standard serial cable with correct pinout.
  • Connect the coax cable from the transmitter balun to the receiver balun, ensuring a continuous, shielded path with minimal bends and no pinching.
  • Connect the receiver balun to the remote RS-232 device, again using a proper serial cable with correct wiring and connector types.
  • Power up the equipment and test the link by sending test data, verifying data integrity and latency, and adjusting configuration if needed.

Beautiful
Format: Kindle
I love omegaverses I had looked at this one multiple times thinking it's just another book about cocky rock star guys that let fame get to their heads and there are parts like that so I wasn't 100% off. I started reading the second book and met the fmc Astraea from the first one, after she had a run in with the aphla from the gym.😁 it gave me the push to stop and read book one first and im so glad I did this book was amazing their was so many characters I fell in love with hoping they will find their happily ever after. the guys were great, the plot was 🎯, and the ending had me 😭😭😭. I was wondering how nate could ever redeem himself, and he did. the last scene with him was sad, but I also felt it was beautiful. thank you to the author for making a beautiful omegaverse book that gave me all the feels. now I'm jumping straight into book two.

Knot their Omega
Format: Kindle
It took me a day to really get into the book, there is a lot happening in the beginning of the story. I wish there was more of a time frame because I felt like something’s happened quickly but they were farther away than I thought so that was a little confusing to me. I felt like there was so much happening but also not enough. As for the story itself I enjoyed it, it was different than other OV I’ve read. Bring the tissues, you will need them. They guys were great, I wish we saw more of Kai and Kenjis relationship. As for Nate…… IYKYK. I enjoyed this book, my first from this author and look forward to reading about Kamaris story. Book: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Spice: 🌶️.5/5

Has Potential, Poorly Executed
Format: Kindle
I really really wanted to enjoy this book and was looking forward to reading it. However there were just one too many convoluted plot points, sentences just did not flow nicely at times, and I was left with a lot of confusion on my end. I think it has the bones of being a great story but seems like it was rushed and I had to push myself to finish the last of the book and was left with an unsatisfying ending. It’s definitely different from other omegaverse novels I’ve read but not for good reasons. I really think it could be great but needs some serious tweaking and editing before I’d read it again.

Wow.
Format: Kindle
Okay I’m usually not one for stand-alone’s I’m an avid series reader but my goodness am I so happy I read this! This story was brilliant & so absolutely mesmerizing. I loved reading about each character and their struggles as well as what helped them to move forward. The ending definitely brought tears to my eyes so hard. I truly wasn’t expecting some of what happened in this story. There is about to be a spoiler I am going to reveal so please stop reading if you don’t want the spoiler !!!! ⚠️ ⛔️ ‼️ I loved that the author didn’t do what most authors do with irredeemable male characters. I truly was hoping that Nate Jr. would be apart of the pack after the way he treated Astrea bc he truly didn’t deserve it. Though I must say you did a wonderful job or redeeming him as a person. I cried my eyes out when he walked into the story. I was truly terrified he was going to be a bad guy to the end. However you truly did him such a justice by having him realize his faults & having him redeem himself in the most wonderful way. I’m so sad that he didn’t get to hear how much his brother loved him & forgave him before dying. But again you wrote that ending so beautifully & I just can’t express how much I loved this story & how you took a different route than most authors I have read have. You are a remarkable author Cinder Blaze & I thank you generously for creating such a masterpiece.
