Benefits

Maintaining your pet's oral and dental health is crucial. Since pets can’t communicate when they’re in discomfort, it's essential to routinely check their gums and teeth. Chewing on Zeal® Pet Treats aids in the removal of plaque and tartar buildup. Regular brushing of your pet’s teeth is also highly recommended!

Training treats: Treats serve as an excellent tool for training, helping to keep your pet focused on you and the learning experience, regardless of their age. For training purposes, treats should be small and easily consumable, requiring minimal chewing so you can quickly reward desired behaviors. Ideal training treats are soft and about the size of a pea. Pets care less about the size of the treat and more about the frequency of rewards. Larger treats can be used for significant behavior rewards, as they require your pet to pause, chew, and savor the treat.

Effective use of dog treats: The best way to utilize treats is to encourage a calm and submissive demeanor. Avoid using treats to reward excitement or over-stimulation. Always allow your pet to sniff the treat first, holding it out of their reach until they settle down. Remember, pets, especially dogs, have an incredible sense of smell and can detect scents from over 5 meters away, so there’s no need to put the treat directly under their nose. Initially, dogs may become a bit jumpy when they catch a whiff. If this occurs, signal your disapproval through your body language and attitude; your patience will be rewarded with a well-behaved pet. They will learn that a calm and composed approach yields results, sitting quietly while waiting for you to reward them. At the moment of tranquility, present the treat. Reserve treats for rewarding calmness rather than excitement.

Feeding Guidelines

Don’t over-treat ~ While it can be tempting to indulge your furry friend when they beg for more, it’s important to regulate treat intake. Treats should complement your pet's regular diet. Much like us, too many treats can lead to weight gain and disrupt your pet’s nutritional balance, which is vital for their well-being. Ideally, treats should not exceed 10% of your pet's daily caloric intake, so adjust their regular meals accordingly to prevent weight gain, taking into account treat consumption during training sessions. This guideline also applies to treats given as rewards for good behavior. If you neglect this, your pet may gradually gain weight, which can adversely affect their health.

Treat Safety ~ We highly recommend supervising your pet while they enjoy treats, especially when they're trying a new one. Some dogs (though not usually cats) can be overly eager and may not chew well, leading to potential choking hazards.

When to give treats to your pet ~ The best time to offer treats is between meals, rather than right before or after a feeding. Select a treat that your pet will truly enjoy. If you’re using treats for training, they’ll be less effective right after your pet has had a full meal.

What type of treats are appropriate for your pet's breed, size, and age?
We advise supervising your pet while they enjoy treats, especially when trying something new. Many dogs tend to swallow treats quickly without chewing, so keep an eye on them regardless of size and age until you're certain they can handle it safely. Cats generally chew their treats more slowly. Smaller dogs may find larger treats difficult to manage, while larger dogs might attempt to gulp down medium-sized harder treats. Older pets with dental issues will require softer chews, so it’s essential to consider your pet’s size and eating habits.

Storage: Keep in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. Seal the bag tightly to maintain freshness.

Holds 100 pounds of water
Size: 19inch
Some assembly required. Rolls easily in direction of wood grain on a deck. Very difficult to roll sideways across gaps in deck boards.

Great toy!
Color: Grass Green, Size: Medium
We have a boxer and pit mix and he destroys everything. This toy however lasted the longest. He played with this every day and he plays very rough. But after 3 months I finally threw it out. It was still in tact but it was about to start falling apart. I will definitely buy another one.

Great for aggressive chewers!
Color: Mixed, Size: Medium
My dachshund pit mix is VERY hard on toys. She is a very aggressive chewer. She loves this toy and so far hasn't destroyed it! I was concerned because the center is softer, but because of the shape she is unable to get a good grip on it to chew it to pieces. Very happy with it so far!
