The charm was originally an antique stickpin (circa 1910) that our jeweler transformed by removing the pin and adding a jump ring bail. The use of a "ball and claw" motif originated from ancient Chinese mythology. In ancient times, a dragon's claw clutching a jewel or stone was said to protect the treasure from evil forces attempting to steal it.
