The RAIDage JAGE5BT4HDRD-DE is a rugged, trayless external storage tower designed for professionals who demand expansive capacity, fast data access, and reliable cooling in a compact footprint. Built to maximize throughput in 12Gb/s SAS environments while keeping broad SATA/SAS compatibility, this 4-bay enclosure is ideal for expanding storage for servers, workstations, media editing suites, and high-demand backup systems. Its sleek black chassis with red accents conveys a professional, enterprise-grade presence that fits neatly in data centers, server rooms, and dedicated home labs. With a focus on performance, reliability, and ease of integration, the JAGE5BT4HDRD-DE minimizes downtime and simplifies RAID configurations through your existing host controller.

  • High-capacity 4-bay external design: The JAGE5BT4HDRD-DE delivers generous expansion for SAS and SATA drives in a compact tower. Four drive bays provide flexible RAID and storage strategies, enabling robust data protection and scalable capacity to meet growing needs. Trayless design lowers maintenance friction, letting you swap drives with minimal effort while maintaining a tidy workstation or data center rack footprint. This enclosure is engineered to support a range of 3.5" form factor drives, balancing performance and dense storage in a single, easy-to-manage unit.
  • Blazing-fast 12Gb/s SAS and SATA/600 compatibility: Engineered for modern data infrastructures, this enclosure supports 12Gb/s SAS interfaces and SATA drives up to 6Gb/s. The combination ensures broad compatibility with enterprise-grade SAS drives and consumer-grade SATA disks, enabling versatile deployment across backup, archiving, and media workflows. Expect improved sequential throughput and responsiveness when paired with a compatible host controller or RAID card, making it an excellent backbone for high-bandwidth applications.
  • Single Mini-SAS HD host interface (SFF-8644): The JAGE5BT4HDRD-DE uses a high-quality Mini-SAS HD connector for a clean, reliable link to your server or workstation. The SFF-8644 interface supports dense, high-bandwidth connections, reducing cable clutter while delivering strong signal integrity. This design is ideal for data centers and power users who prioritize efficiency, neat cable management, and consistent performance under load.
  • Efficient cooling for reliability: An 80mm cooling fan complements the enclosure’s thermal design to help dissipate heat generated by sustained drive activity. By maintaining steady temperatures, the unit supports long-term reliability, reduces thermal throttling, and helps extend drive life in demanding workloads. The enclosure’s airflow-oriented chassis ensures that hot air is effectively evacuated, preserving performance during intensive RAID operations or multi-drive transfers.
  • Bold, professional build with RAID-friendly flexibility: The JAGE5BT4HDRD-DE’s black body with red accents communicates enterprise-grade readiness while offering practical features for RAID configurations. While the enclosure is trayless, NAS and server environments often rely on a compatible host controller to manage RAID levels, hot spare settings, and rebuild processes. This design emphasizes compatibility and flexibility, letting you implement RAID0, RAID1, RAID5, RAID6, or JBOD configurations using your existing RAID controller and software tools, with easy drive installation and removal as needs evolve.

  • Open the enclosure carefully and, if necessary, install drives into the four bays. Ensure drives are securely seated and aligned with the backplane connectors.
  • Connect the Mini-SAS HD cable from the enclosure’s SFF-8644 port to the corresponding port on your host controller or RAID card, using appropriate cable length to keep cables tidy and unobtrusive.
  • Connect the enclosure to power and boot the host system. Enter the RAID controller’s configuration utility to create your desired RAID array or JBOD configuration using the four drives.
  • Verify drive status in the controller utility and in your operating system. If you are performing a rebuild or migration, monitor progress until completion and perform data integrity checks as needed.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What drives are compatible with the RAIDage JAGE5BT4HDRD-DE? A: The enclosure supports SAS drives and SATA drives up to 6Gb/s, enabling a wide range of enterprise and consumer HDD/SSD options. For optimal performance and reliability, use drives that match your RAID strategy and controller capabilities.
  • Q: Does this enclosure have its own built-in RAID controller? A: The JAGE5BT4HDRD-DE is designed to be used with a compatible host controller or RAID card. RAID levels and rebuild processes are managed by the host controller software or hardware rather than an integrated enclosure controller.
  • Q: Is the enclosure hot-swappable? A: The description indicates a trayless design for drive installation; hot-swapping behavior depends on the drives and the host controller. Check your controller’s hot-swap support and the drive backplane compatibility for hot-swap operation.
  • Q: What interface connects the enclosure to a computer or server? A: A Mini-SAS HD (SFF-8644) host interface provides a high-bandwidth connection to your server or RAID controller, enabling efficient data transfer across all four bays.
  • Q: What environments is this enclosure best suited for? A: It is well-suited for data centers, server rooms, enterprise workstations, media editing suites, and home labs that require scalable four-bay storage with robust 12Gb/s SAS performance and reliable cooling.

Vader's Second Marvel Series Is Good!
Format: Paperback
This is actually the start of a second Vader series. The first one began, along with the new Marvel main Star Wars series, right after the Death Star was destroyed. That Vader series birthed the new characters of Doctor Aphra, Triple Zero, BeeTee, and Cylo. Now, that series has come to an end. THIS NEW SERIES IS GOOD! It picks up the moment that Anakin Skywalker awakes in his armor at the end of Revenge of the Sith. It chronicles the first steps of Darth Vader. We learn something new about the Sith. They do not create their own lightsabers. They must take a saber from a Jedi and make it their own. The Sith blades are red and only red. Why? Palpatine explains that the kyber crystals that power the sabers are living things within the Force. This is backed up by the Rogue One novel (it was either that or Catalyst). The crystals are rock, but they are also alive. In the hands of a Sith, the new owner uses the Dark Side to push all his pain into the crystal--until the crystal bleeds and turns the color of the beam red. I just think that is all sorts of awesome!

Vader when he still is Anakin
Format: Paperback
This comic picks up right where Episode III left off. Like directly. There's the whole "Noooooooooo" thing and everything. I liked seeing Vader when he is new to being a Sith. It really is Anakin under there still. Throughout the comic, that Anakin begins to fall away. I liked the mix of prequel and original trilogy aesthetic. Seeing Vader alongside clone troopers was very cool. The Grand Inquisitor even makes a cameo! I read the Dark Horse comics that took place right after Order 66 so certain aspects of this comic remind me of those. In this comic, there are jedi who took the Barash Vow prior to the Purge, so they are still out and about in the galaxy. Vader takes this opportunity to take a lightsaber and make it bleed. I really enjoyed this first volume in a new, ongoing comic series. I am absolutely excited for volume two. I give this volume a 5/5.

The Lord Vader Treatment
Format: Kindle
Love this Darth perspective. It potentially fills in some gaps in the timeline in the beginning of his transition. Loved the humor and the art.
