Powerful, scalable, and secure, the Transition Networks Managed Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ Switch is engineered for today’s demanding enterprise networks. With a dense array of copper ports, flexible dual-speed SFP+ uplinks, and a comprehensive suite of authentication and security features, this switch is designed to simplify deployment, optimize performance, and protect critical assets across campuses, data centers, and edge locations. Whether you’re deploying high-definition security cameras, VoIP phones, access points, or fast storage connections, this model delivers reliable, manageable power and connectivity at scale. Built for environments that require precision traffic control and robust security, it combines enterprise-grade management with efficient power delivery to help IT teams streamline operations and reduce total cost of ownership.

  • 48 x 10/100/1000BASE-T copper ports provide dense, reliable Ethernet access for a wide range of end devices, from desktops and IP phones to cameras and sensors, all in a compact, single chassis.
  • 4 x dual-speed 1G/10G SFP+ slots offer flexible uplinks and aggregation paths, enabling high-bandwidth convergence with fiber or copper media and supporting future growth without replacing the switch.
  • Jumbo frame support up to 14K bytes optimizes data transfer for virtualization, storage, and large data transfers, reducing CPU overhead and improving throughput in demanding networks.
  • Comprehensive security and authentication including RADIUS, IEEE 802.1X, and TACACS+; SSH/SSL support; per-port MAC address security, plus port-based or VLAN tagging (IEEE 802.1Q) for granular access control.
  • Enterprise-grade management capabilities with web-based GUI, CLI access, and SNMP support, enabling centralized monitoring, easy configuration, and scalable administration across multi-site deployments.

how to install Transition Networks Managed Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ Switch

Installing this switch is a straightforward process designed to minimize downtime and maximize reliability. Begin by planning a secure, well-ventilated installation location in a standard 19-inch rack. Ensure adequate clearance around the chassis to allow for cooling and cable management. Mount the switch using the included rack ears and hardware, then connect the unit to a suitable power source, ensuring stable power for uninterrupted operation.

Next, plan your network layout. Decide which devices will connect to the 48 copper ports and which uplinks will use the 4 SFP+ slots. For new deployments, consider grouping devices by function and applying appropriate VLANs early to simplify later changes. If PoE devices will be deployed (cameras, IP phones, wireless access points), identify ports that require power and verify that the total PoE budget aligns with device requirements. Keep an eye on power distribution as you plan PoE-powered devices to avoid overloading any single path.

Initial configuration is typically performed through the switch’s management interfaces. Connect your workstation to a management port or granted network segment and access the web GUI or CLI. Assign a management IP address (static or via DHCP, depending on your network design) and secure the management channel with HTTPS. Enable key security features such as IEEE 802.1X authentication for port-based access control and configure TACACS+ or RADIUS servers for centralized authentication. Create VLANs to segment traffic and assign ports accordingly, then implement appropriate QoS policies to prioritize latency-sensitive traffic like VoIP and video streams.

Configure PoE settings on the copper ports as needed, turning PoE on or off and setting power priorities for critical devices. Validate that connected devices negotiate PoE correctly and monitor power consumption through the management interface to maintain stable operation. Establish access controls, including MAC-based port security, to prevent unauthorized devices from connecting to the network. Finally, save your configuration and perform a staged reboot if required to apply changes cleanly. After installation, monitor link status, throughput, and error counters to confirm that the switch is performing as intended and to detect potential issues early.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is a PoE+ switch? A PoE+ switch provides power over Ethernet to compatible devices over the same copper cables used for data. PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) delivers higher power levels than standard PoE, enabling devices like high-power IP cameras and multi-band access points to operate without separate power supplies.
  • How many devices can this switch power over PoE? The exact number depends on the total PoE budget and the power requirements of connected devices. The switch features 48 copper ports capable of PoE+, designed to support a broad range of PoE-powered devices in enterprise deployments.
  • Can I use the 4 SFP+ slots for 10G uplinks? Yes. The switch includes four dual-speed SFP+ uplinks that support 1G and 10G fiber connections, enabling high-bandwidth uplink aggregation and flexible remote connectivity.
  • Is the switch easy to manage? Yes. It offers a web-based graphical user interface, a command-line interface, and SNMP for centralized monitoring. These features allow IT teams to configure VLANs, QoS, security policies, and PoE settings efficiently across multiple devices.
  • What security features does it include? The switch supports authentication via RADIUS, IEEE 802.1X, and TACACS+; SSH/SSL for secure remote management; per-port MAC address security; and the option to enforce port-based or VLAN-based access control to protect against unauthorized devices.
  • What environments is this switch best suited for? It’s ideal for enterprise campuses, data centers edge locations, and network closets requiring dense, scalable access, reliable PoE deployment for cameras and APs, and centralized management with strong security controls.

Exceptional quality!
I have had these dishes for two years and highly recommend them. For the price, it is unbeatable. These have the benefits of significantly higher priced dishes. They are a solid weight, which is an important factor in preventing them from being too hot to touch after microwaving. When filled with freshly brewed coffee, the mugs can be on the verge of being too hot to touch, but there is no issue if holding from the handles. I have a fireclay sink that could cause issues with weaker dishes. The handles on the coffee mugs have proven durable over time. I have never experienced a crack in the mugs, even where the handles meet the mugs. I have dropped dishes over time. These do not splinter or shatter into tiny pieces like comparably priced dishes. These crack into large pieces. I have endured chips and cracks in a bowl and plate. Neither broke apart further, despite hot or cold temperatures from microwave, dishwasher, or ice cream. I have not experienced any staining over time. The dishes clean very well in the dishwasher. The minimalist style, weight, and functionality of these dishes compare to sets that cost significantly more money at luxury brand stores.

Minimalist, imperfect but certainly reasonably good for the price
This is a set of 16 pieces, all of which are usable and practically sized, including the coffee/tea/beverage cups. While this is absolutely not high quality it is more than expected for $30 or so. The dishes are on the heavier side, not very lightweight brittle. I doubt they are break resistant. While they appear bone white, which they are, I'm not sure they are pure white (almost.) Some dishes will feature some small imperfections, like a small dot here and there, nothing too terrible. Stacking them is where you'll notice that the large plates are absolutely not perfect and you'll see that the ends are not perfect by rotating the plates and you'll notice areas they go slightly up and down. Again, nothing really noticeable or terrible unless you stack them. If you've got a dorm room, don't care too much about having anything more than a minimalist set of reasonable quality dishes that you won't get embarrassed about for serving casual meals, this makes for a decent set. Hopefully they are safe (supposedly Amazon says they are) and they are made in China. If you're wondering about branding, on the bottom of each item there is a conspicuous amazon basics logo.
