By: Fyodor DostoyevskyFyodor Dostoyevsky’s harrowing, semi-autobiographical novel about the internal transformation of a man serving ten years in a remote Siberian prison
“In order to understand the significance of the style and structure of the book, it is necessary to bear in mind that it was the result of a terrible mental, spiritual, and physical ordeal. . . . The point about the novel, however, is that it charts the reawakening of a man without a personality.”—from the Introduction
Here was the house of the living dead, and a life like none other upon earth.
In January 1850, Fyodor Dostoyevsky was sent to a remote Siberian prison camp for his part in a political conspiracy. The four years he spent there, startlingly re-created in The House of the Dead, were the most agonizing of his life.
In this fictionalized account he recounts his soul-destroying incarceration through the cool, detached tones of his narrator, Aleksandr Petrovich Goryanchikov: the daily battle for survival, the wooden plank beds, the cabbage soup swimming with cockroaches, his strange ‘family’ of boastful, ugly, cruel convicts.
Yet The House of the Dead is far more than a work of documentary realism: it is also a powerful novel of redemption, describing one man’s spiritual and moral death and the miracle of his gradual reawakening.
This Penguin Classics edition includes notes and an introduction by David McDuff discussing the circumstances of Dostoyevsky’s imprisonment, the origins of the novel in his prison writings, and the character of Aleksandr Petrovich.

I think it runs big. Otherwise good. Poor packaging though.
Color: Light Blue, Size: Large
I ordered a Large. I am 5’ 9 1/2”. Fit, 170lbs (athletic/slim build). The Large was noticeably too big. Looked “sloppy”, like it fit once and then I lost a bunch of weight. That said, the material/weight was very nice. This is a nicely made, casual blazer. Will look good with jeans/khakis or dressier pants. REALLY nice for the price (I got it on sale, 50% off ($31.99) though. Maybe a push, or nicer ones for $60/70, but I’d still say a good value. Packaged in a bag as people have mentioned. I’ve returned for a medium & will probably have to take to the dry cleaner immediately to have pressed, but still worth it.
UPDATE: returned for a size M. Much better fit for my size. This one was packaged nicer too. Still in a bag, but folded nicely enough to wear right away. I’m planning on buying more colors.

Horrible quality and service
Color: Navy Blue, Size: Medium
The quality of the jacket is horrible. After the jacket was returned unused. The company kept trying to say it was never returned. Was able to provide Amazon with the tracking from UPS showing it was delivered and signed for. Amazon issued the refund. 4 months later now, the company is trying g to charge me again for the jacket. Was able to prove again to Amazon the item was signed for when returned. Amazon is issuing a refund again. Do not trust this company with your credit card. They will continue to try and charge you months later.

Nice Mid-weight Blazer
Color: Dark Khaki, Size: X-Large
Nice blazer. Not lightweight. More like a standard men’s blazer.
