Yarra Yering is one of the Yarra Valley’s most iconic and historic wineries, established in 1969 by Dr. Bailey Carrodus, a pioneer who helped revive winemaking in the region. Known for its elegant, age-worthy wines, Yarra Yering quickly earned a reputation for excellence, with its first commercial vintage released in 1973.

Since 2013 the winery is led by acclaimed winemaker Sarah Crowe, whose focus on site expression and sustainable practices has earned widespread recognition, including multiple Winemaker of the Year awards. Her second ‘Winemaker of the Year” accolade was in 2021, presented by Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine. The same year Yarra Yering won the 2022 James Halliday Winery of the Year & Wine of The Year, the first time a winery has ever won 2 major accolades in the one year.

This wine is a blend of 96% Shiraz, 2% Marsanne, 1.5% Mataro, 0.5% Viognier. Fruit was hand-picked, transferred across a sorting table and destemmed directly to the Yarra Yering half-tonne open-fermenters. As much whole berry as possible is retained to encourage perfume. A small portion of fermenters had frozen Viognier skins; tiny yields this year, added to the bottom. The wine was aged for 15 months in French oak barriques, 25% new before blending and bottling.

2025 Halliday Wine Companion Award Winning Varietal - Shiraz of the year & Red Wine of the year.

Tasting Notes

"A blend of 96/1/2/1% shiraz/viognier/marsanne/mataro. Fermented with whole berries and matured in barriques (25% new). A brilliant crimson red. In fact, a brilliant Dry Red Wine No. 2. There's a little reduction when first poured but it doesn't take long for this to reveal a complex amalgam of red and black fruits, iodine, graphite and melted, dark licorice. Fleshier and more refined and seductive than last year's version. Incredibly svelte tannins. Supremely balanced. I reckon Yarra Yering's founder, Dr Bailey Carrodus, would be chuffed with this." 99 Points - Halliday Wine Companion, Panel Decision (2024).

Of course, yes!
Size: 40 Count (Pack of 1)
I absolutely love this product! My dry mouth is terrible with the medicines that I have to take and just being able to stick this on the side of my dumb and let it freely release during the day is fantastic! Why have I never heard of these wonderful little things. Perfect when you want don’t wanna wake up with bad breath these are mintier than most of the other kinds, I have tried. I wish they had xylitol in them because then they would even be great for your teeth.

Great Mint Flavor, better mouth profile
Size: 60 Count (Pack of 1)
Unlike others, I prefer these to the Zylimelts. I like the fact that the flavor is stronger and it's a good mint flavor. it has a little bit of a zing to it but it hasn't hurt my mouth. I find that these give me a better mouth feel than either Zylimelts or the Rite Aid brand which is what I was using before. I chose Rite Aid over Zylimelts because they had a better flavor and mouthfeel and were less expensive the Zylimelts, which left a scummy film in my mouth. Zylimelts are bit larger too & they hurt my mouth from their hard edges & size. Zylimelts leave a yucky coating in my mouth but didn't moisturize anywhere near as well as either Rite Aid or these Freshmelts. These have a lower height & more rounded edges so they don't hurt as much as the others. Fresh melts are also less expensive than the other two. Mostly Zylimelts had difficulty melting because they just don't moisturize well. Even my 99 year old Mom preferred Rite Aid over Zylimelt. Sadly she passed away before I discovered these wonderful FreshMelts. Personally I would suggest if this flavor is too strong for you, see if they come in another flavor, or try the Rite Aid brand of Zylimelts, called "oral care dry mouth discs" in mint flavor also available here on Amazon. They don't have as rounded a top edge as OraCoat's 2 products but they definitely moisturize better than Zylimelts, in my opinion & I think they come in another flavor too. FreshMelts definitely have the most mit flavor, thanks to the mint oil in them, which is what irritates some people. I haven't had that issue & prefer the tingle & freshness, which makes these much better for daytime use as well & lasts longer than Pur mints or Therabreath's dry mouth lozenges (tho sensitive mouths avoid their mandarin mint, it's extremely zingy, maybe even acidic, at least even I only use if out of everything else because of how strong the zing is - which is probably why they were so much cheaper than other flavors. Ha ha. Time before I got another flavor & while tingly, wasn't bad. For Nighttime however, nothing beats the adhesive disc melts. I vote Freshmelts best for good strong flavor, best comfort/size profile & also cheapest, always a plus for me!

Handy to keep in your pocket for refreshing mouth
Size: 160 Count (Pack of 1)
Oracoat FreshMelt Stick-on are great if you have dry mouth. I use them when I go to church and they stick to the roof of my mouth and stay in place for close to 2 hrs. I have also used them at night when I wake up and can't seem to get my mouth refreshed with water.

The best, but also the most expensive
Size: 160 Count (Pack of 1)
These are the best dry mouth tabs I’ve found. They actually stick-on and last for hours. I struggle so much with dry mouth when I sleep and these have been the longest lasting. They are pretty expensive, which is why I gave them 4* instead of 5, but I haven’t found any that work better.
