Extend your network beyond copper with a reliable, high-performance bridge that converts 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet to 100BASE-FX fiber. The Black Box LinkGain Media Converter is engineered for seamless integration between existing copper-based LANs and fiber networks, enabling you to connect distant campuses, buildings, or data centers without replacing current switches. Featuring an ST fiber connector and a standard RJ-45 copper port, this compact converter delivers plug-and-play operation, robust performance, and the flexibility to deploy in standalone setups or in racks. Designed for durability in real-world environments, the LinkGain supports easy scaling by allowing you to deploy units in pairs, ensuring a transparent, continuous link between copper and fiber segments while maintaining full-duplex, high-speed traffic across the network.

  • Flexible copper-to-fiber media conversion for seamless network extension — The LinkGain 10/100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX Media Converter bridges your existing copper Ethernet network (RJ-45) to a 100BASE-FX fiber backbone, enabling you to extend reach across short- or long-haul distances without replacing current switches. With copper support for 10/100 Mbps and fiber support for 100 Mbps, this converter accommodates mixed environments where legacy devices share a common network with newer fiber-linked segments. The ST fiber connector standardizes your fiber installations, reducing compatibility concerns and simplifying your installation process. This capability is particularly valuable in campuses, multi-building office complexes, or industrial environments where fiber is chosen for its higher immunity to EMI and longer distance coverage, yet a copper side remains in place for broader compatibility and cost efficiency.
  • Auto-sensing copper ports with MDI/MDI-X — The copper RJ-45 port automatically negotiates and detects MDI/MDI-X, allowing effortless integration with a wide range of switches, hubs, or IP cameras and workstations. Auto-sensing eliminates the need to manually configure speed or duplex settings, ensuring compatibility with 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps networks and enabling smooth operation even in mixed-speed networks. This feature helps prevent misconfigurations and reduces setup time, so you can deploy quickly in classrooms, office floors, or data center edge devices. By accommodating both MDI and MDI-X connections, the LinkGain minimizes the risk of crossover issues and keeps your network simple to manage as you grow.
  • Link Fault Pass Through (LFP) for enhanced reliability — The Link Fault Pass Through feature enhances network reliability by ensuring that if the connected link on the other side fails, the paired converter can shut down its corresponding link to prevent traffic from looping or causing unstable network behavior. LFP helps maintain predictable network operation in fault conditions, which is especially important for mission-critical applications, server racks, and uplinks between buildings. By providing a clear, coordinated response to link failures, LFP reduces troubleshooting time and helps maintain service continuity even in challenging environments.
  • Plug-and-play, standalone or rack-mountable design — The LinkGain is designed for easy deployment right out of the box. It supports plug-and-play operation, requiring no complex configuration in most installations. Use it as a standalone unit on a desk or shelf, or install it in a rack for tidy, scalable networking. The ability to operate in a standalone mode or as part of a rack-mounted deployment makes it well-suited for growing networks, data centers, and network closets where space and organization matter. For larger projects, you can deploy multiple units in pairs to connect disparate copper networks to fiber backbones with minimal management overhead and maximum flexibility.
  • Designed for durable, scalable network upgrades — By enabling a straightforward copper-to-fiber transition, the LinkGain supports gradual network upgrades without a forklift replacement of existing equipment. It preserves your current infrastructure while unlocking the performance and distance benefits of fiber. The device’s ST connector, compatibility with 10/100BASE-TX copper, and 100BASE-FX fiber support make it a practical choice for organizations planning phased upgrades, campus-wide deployments, or secure, high-speed uplinks between network segments. The pairing requirement (use in matched units) ensures consistent behavior across the link, delivering predictable performance and easier management as the network expands.

How to Install Black Box LinkGain 10/100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX Media Converter

  • Plan the distance and location for the copper and fiber links. Ensure you have two units to create a complete copper-to-fiber bridge, as the device is designed to be used in pairs for full functionality.
  • Connect the copper side (RJ-45) of one converter to your Ethernet switch, hub, or network device using a standard Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet patch cable. The auto-sensing feature will negotiate the appropriate speed (10 or 100 Mbps) and duplex automatically.
  • On the fiber side, connect a 100BASE-FX fiber patch lead with an ST connector to the corresponding ST port on the paired converter located at the other end of the link. Ensure the fiber path is clean and free of dust to maintain optimal signal integrity.
  • Repeat the same process for the second converter so that two devices are linked end-to-end, with copper on one side and fiber on the other. Remember: these units are designed to operate together as a pair to establish a seamless copper-to-fiber bridge.
  • Power the units according to your installation environment and verify basic connectivity by testing end-to-end communication between devices on either side of the link. Due to the LFP feature, verify that the paired converter responds correctly to faults to maintain network reliability.

Sadly, DNF
Format: Kindle
I read this thru KU. I LOVED the synopsis. And then I began reading... and it was a DNF at 68% after picking it up and putting it down several times because I really loved the main female character. *****SPOILERS***** Pros: The world is unique, intriguing and fun. The primary female character is bad-a** but not a b*tech or a mary sue. The primary female has depth. I really want to know what happens to her even tho it's been weeks and I don't remember her name. The villains to the point I read are pretty good -- an ever present threat of mysterious and possibly many culprits. Cons: Way, way too many points of view. I stopped counting at 7. It's the prime reason why I don't care about most of the characters or remember their names even when I like them. There's just too many points of view so almost none of the characters have enough book space for the author to properly develop them. This literally killed the book for me. Actually it killed my desire to read. For weeks. The main male is more villain than hero. He agreed to marry the main female then locks her up & eschews her for her sister, all while bad mouthing her as unfit to rule when he never spent any time with her getting to know her. He is actually unfit to rule as he is blind to the woes of his own kingdom and starts off a peace mission to secure a ceasefire through marriage by murdering an inn full of people in her country for no real reason. Plus, he constantly makes promises he does not keep. And it's gross of him to pine for the sister behind the main female's back. ***** As much as I really wanted to see what happened to the main female character, it wasn't enough for me to keep trying to slog thru this book. There was a lot of potential here that just fell short. Hence, 3 stars.

Fae Courts with High Intrigue
Format: Kindle
This book is one that just builds and builds and then surprises you to no end. You may think you know the villains and then you are jolted in another direction. Princess Reyna is a real gem, strong of character, a fierce fighter, and loyal to her family and kingdom. Just when you think she and Lorcan, well you know, the plot is flipped. Can't wait to see where this goes in book two.

Slow, sorry but good
Format: Kindle
This was a slow moving book. Lots of character pov chapters, lots of superfluous descriptions and endless courtly appearances stalled this book to start. Once you get into the heart of the story, it takes off. Before you know it the book is done. My favorite character is Reyna. She is so strong. She is true to herself. She gets into a lot of trouble with her headstrong ways but it's entertaining. I have high hopes for Lorcan. He is honorable to a fault. Thane had turned out to be better than I thought but i still don't like him. Eislin is useless. Great plot twists at the end. I'm looking forward too book 2.

Very detailed! Beautiful world building! Strong Heroine!
Format: Kindle
Starts off a little slow and confusing with different POV’s, but starts to all come together towards the middle to make an elaborate plot line and makes it all worth it. Beautiful world building and attention to detail as well as great writing. The cliffhanger was gut wrenching! Can’t wait for the next book!

Interesting
Format: Kindle
This was a very captivating book once you got into it thoroughly. But the third person perspective was a bit hard to get used to. But as you got into it and followed the different characters, it was interesting and filled with intrigue, conflict and forbidden love. I can’t wait to read the next one and to complete the series.
