The La Palina Fuego Verde Cigar, aka Green Fire, is undeniably one of La Palina’s most unique cigars ever made. This cigar initially catches your eye and stands out in a big way, by sporting a bright green wrapper, known as a Candela wrapper. Candela wrappers have a very interesting history, and originally started being used in Cuba during the 1940s as an alternative to the fuller bodied wrappers. There was enormous demand throughout the US and Canada for a milder cigar option during this time, and that is when Cuban rollers started using this infamous bright green leaf. Unfortunately, due to this high demand, so many cigars were rolled and offered in the Candela wrappers, that the Candela tobacco in Cuba eventually ran out. To continue to meet demand, manufacturers stopped curing this tobacco properly, and began using various techniques to mirror this deliciously tasting sweet, grassy, mild wrapper.
