During his lifetime Hans Fahrmann was known as "the Richard Strauss of the organ." Today the compositions of this composer and organist, who was born in 1860 in Beicha, Saxony, are largely unknown. Frieder Bernius has now devoted himself to Fahrmann's sacred vocal works and has found the SWR Vokalensemble to be the ideal partner for these late romantic a cappella works. The motets, whose demanding harmonies also demand professional ensembles, are now available on album for the first time. The SWR vocal ensemble has mastered this challenge brilliantly. For Frieder Bernius, a conductor always on the lookout for exciting choral literature, Fahrmann's compositions represent "an indispensable and very welcome enrichment of the late romantic repertoire." How true!

This would have been great if an editor worked on it first
Format: Hardcover
As much as I admire Dr. Johnson and her work, the writing is not good in this book. The ideas are very useful but the reader must slog through complex, turgid sentences and multiple grammatical errors to get the points. I wish more writers had good editing and didn’t submit such poor writing for publication. Dr. Johnson is not alone in this criticism. I think many writers have been trained to write circuitous sentences and that results in the reader working unnecessarily hard to grasp the meaning of the ideas.
That said, I am very impressed by her use of research that supports her writing and the ideas she presents. I hope that future publications are more carefully edited before they are published, with the reader in mind. And if you wonder if I am uneducated, rest assured that I have a doctorate in clinical psychology and 20 years post license experience.

This book I feel really gives a great understanding of key topics and points that would potentially be on the exam. Although vague for some folks, potentially, they would be things to know and keep in mind when considering to cost of such an exam.
