As electronic music knows no creative boundaries, Spiral Deluxe is clearly a profound and convincing example of what is possible in the times we live in today. Traditionally, they would be considered a musical quartet. Each of the four members contributing to make a special joint effort - the meeting of minds from different spectrums of the musical sphere, but if you move in closer to examine how each have modified the way they communicate in order to play with each other. A longtime vision of their drummer/percussionist and Jeff Mills. Before becoming the world renown and groundbreaking DJ, producer, and artist he is recognized for, he was a drummer in his youth, which carried on up until he began DJing in the late 1970s. Since then, he had always carried idea to get back to his musical roots. This longtime dream began to surface a few years ago when Mills was bestowed a "white card" residency at the Museum du Le Louvre in Paris. It was there that he found the opportunity to form a band for one night and it opened the doors to a chance to materialize his dream. Since then, the formation has carefully evolved into one might describe as a "super band" - a group of highly-skilled musicians, working together to reach a higher level of creativity. For example, although members are using electronic instruments, there is no MIDI syncing connection. Each plays their instrument unattached as if any jazz or rock band would play together. Each having a vast amount of experience in live and studio projects, this release displays their wealth of skill and musical knowledge that comes from jazz, funk, pop, gospel, Detroit techno, and all forms of house music. Spiral Deluxe is: Yumiko Ohno - keyboard; Gerald Mitchell - keyboard; Kenji "Jino" Hino - bass guitar; Jeff Mills - drums and percussion. Voodoo Magic is the result of a two-day recording session at the famous Studio Ferber in Paris. Most tracks on this release were recorded in one-take recordings to "capture the moment". "Let It Go" was composed by Spiral Deluxe and features even more masterful artistry of the likes of veteran vocalist Tanya Michelle, with the mix production of the one-and-only Detroit native producer and DJ Terrence Parker. 180 gram vinyl; Axis Audiophile Series; Color gatefold jacket. A and B side: 33 1/3rpm; C and D side: 45rpm.

One of the best books on shame out there
Format: Paperback
As a shame researcher and educator, I often refer to DeYoung's book because it is so full of resources and relational tools for clinicians and individuals relating to the neurobiology of shame. It is a very small book with A LOT of information. Many references to the shame research and suggestions for treating shame in clinical practice from a perspective of right brain relationship dynamics. Thank you Patricia!

Highly recommend.
Format: Paperback
One of the most helpful, lucid, and comprehensive books on shame I've encountered. This was required reading for graduate school and is now one of my most returned to, dog-eared, and referenced books. Can't recommend enough.

Thorough, clear, enlightening, and inspiring - not often achieved in academia
Format: Paperback
This is an extraordinarily well-researched manual. It presents for the reader a Catholic-Christian perspective on psychology/mental health which is faithful to the magisterial teachings of the Church and the Christian tradition. So much good will come to the clinician/professor/pastoral leader/student/generally-concerned-citizen who engages thoughtfully with the CCMMP. More to the point, those whom they serve will reap the real harvest. This could be one of the most important books written in this century. Yes. Bold claim. Bolder still and brighter yet the vision of the human person elucidated in this volume. "The glory of God is a human person fully alive" (St. Irenaeus of Lyon) The CCMMP sheds light for the reader to catch that vision of God's image (the human person) in a world so dimmed by confusion. Read this book. Or pick put some chapters that are of particular interest to you and go through those. You'll be glad you did.

Towards a Christian Psychology or Cure of Souls
Format: Paperback
Mental health professionals will benefit from this comprehensive manual that has been extensively researched, as it provides a way forward in the direct application of the Christian tradition in a therapeutic context. This book restores the authority within psychology back to the spiritual dimension rather than the empiricism and rationalism that is the legacy of the Enlightenment project and consequently of mainstream psychology. An important matter not addressed in this study are the arguably deleterious impacts of the Second Vatican Council (1962–1965) on the hearts and minds of the faithful, not to mention the crisis in religious vocations to which it has led. Therefore, references to the doctrinal teachings of Vatican II (and the contemporary church) should be considered with discernment so that a clear distinction can be maintained between traditional Catholicism and some of its modern aberrations (Coomaraswamy, 2006). Notwithstanding, the book has many strengths that will benefit therapists who are interested in Christian psychology, or the “science of the soul” found within all of the world’s religions. It is by adhering to one of the divinely revealed spiritual traditions that we can gain access to a liberating discernment—“Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32)—which is essential for any integral therapy and healing. -Spiritual Psychology and Counseling, Vol. 7, No. 2 (2022)

tour de force work, written in the Catholic intellectual tradition
Format: Hardcover
What a masterpiece. I would recommend this book as required reading for Catholics in the helping professions--counseling, social work, clinical psychology, etc. I'm a grad student in Catholic counseling at a non-Catholic institution, and this has been a go-to text in my classes. So grateful to the professors and contributors at Divine Mercy University for their many, many years and sacrifices putting this treatise together. It is going to bear much fruit in the years to come. Thank you!!
