The artist has now teamed up with Reverend on a fantastic, soulful signature: the Rick Vito Soul Agent! This piece comes outfitted and ready for everything from classic soul to rockin’ blues and even raunchy leads with swampy Southern flair. Essentially, it’s a heavily modified take on Reverend’s workhorse Double Agent with a heavily chambered korina body and additional spruce top. Korina and spruce bond together for luscious warmth that rivals semi-hollowbody guitars, but this Agent won’t go rogue and feedback when levels get loud. The Soul Agent’s marriage of a versatile HA5 humbucker and 9A5 P-90 makes for a practically infinite palette of modern takes on retro tones. And as if that wasn’t enough, you also get a Bigsby vibrato system plus multiple extra pickup voicings and Reverend’s signature selection of functional, gig-ready appointments, including a rock-solid roasted maple neck, pin-lock tuners, and a dual-contact Pure Tone jack.

Chambered korina and spruce: lush soul with acoustic zing

The Rick Vito Soul Agent is truly like no other Reverend axe made today. A heavily chambered korina body harkens back to Reverend’s earliest prototypes for their flagship Double Agent OG. Korina is known for velvety warmth and balanced lows, mids, and highs, but the chambered body renders even warmer results with an airy resonance that rewards soulful expression. What’s more, a spruce top gives the Soul Agent an extra dash of acoustic energy. Often reserved for semi-hollowbodies and acoustic guitars, this spruce top adds spine-tingling acoustic zing and snappy, articulate tone that shines at clean to medium-gain settings.

Ultra-versatile electronics

Much like Reverend’s Double Agent OG, the Soul Agent gets you to “mission accomplished” in practically any scenario with a versatile combination of custom P-90 and humbucker pickups. The HA5 bridge pickup is a classic PAF-style humbucker loaded with Alnico V magnets and extra windings for quintessential electric soul. The HA5 is warm yet open with enough clarity for precisely picked riffs and dazzling technical leads (it also does some killer slide tones, Rick Vito demands no less!). The 9A5 neck pickup is a P-90-style single-coil with Alnico V magnets for an extra dose of clarity. Guitarists often compare the 9A5’s natural sound to the fidelity of a P-90 plugged-in and mic’d up in the studio — it’s just that good!

Extra gadgets

Every agent needs gadgets, and Reverend stocked this guitar with plenty of tone-tweaking doodads that come in handy onstage or in the studio! For starters, the Soul Agent’s volume and tone knob have secondary push-pull features, bringing the total unique voices onboard up to eight — far more than meets the eye! The tone knob push-pull activates phase switching for instant funky articulation with extra soul; the volume push-pull switches on “twang” mode, essentially a bass cut that yields tighter, more percussive “twang.” But don’t let the name dissuade you from using this feature for various styles and sounds. It’s convenient for cleaning up the 9A5 bridge humbucker with mix-cutting brightness and clarity. Finally, a Bigsby B50 vibrato tailpiece delivers some of the smoothest, most expressive bends in the business — a must-have for soulful leads and tasteful bends. This Bigsby is bound to see heavy use, which is why Reverend matched it with six pin-lock tuners on the headstock for extra-tight tuning stability, not to mention swift string changes to boot.
