Changing the water is essential to maintain a healthy environment for bettas, as, like all fish, they produce waste that decomposes and creates an unhealthy environment in the water. In bettas, since they are somewhat smaller than conventional aquariums, it is advisable to change the water every week. When changing the water and adding fresh water, chemical substances such as nitrites and nitrates are diluted, which can be potentially lethal in high concentrations.

The EZ Care Plus system has been designed to make the essential weekly water change as simple and time-saving as possible. In 3 steps that will only take a few minutes, you will have completed the water change without disturbing your betta's environment and thus causing less stress than a conventional water change.

The first step is to lift the rear lever, this will cause the system to draw the dirty, contaminant-laden water from the tank and transfer it to the rear tank which has a level indicator that will indicate when the tank is full. Once the tank is full it is removed, emptied and replaced. Then the clean, fresh water is added to the tank with aquarium water conditioner. 

It is extremely important to add aquarium water conditioner, such as Marina Betta Pure, to the new tap water that is added to the betta tank. Tap water is full of chlorine, chloramine, and heavy metals that are toxic to bettas.
