Beatrice loves her idyllic life in the countryside and all that comes with it. She loves building snowpeople in the winter, gardening in the spring, catching fireflies in the summer, and frolicking through freshly-fallen leaves in autumn. But when Papa gets a new job in a faraway city, Beatrice’s entire world changes. Saying goodbye to Gram and the stories she tells of her long-ago adventures hurts most of all

Her dads try to help Beatrice love her new apartment in the city, but not even the nearby playground or friendly dog neighbors can lift her spirits. She worries this new place will never feel like home.

But when a surprise care package from Gram arrives, containing a notebook, a camera, and some encouragement, Bea knows just what to do. Suddenly, there’s a new adventure around every corner of her new city—so many things to do and see…from rumbly underground train rides and sights along the water to checkers in the park and making new friends. It all goes into Beatrice’s scrapbook of memories that finally make her city a home. She couldn’t wait to share her stories of adventure with Gram who has one more surprise—a holiday visit.
