The planter does not have drainage holes so it protects surfaces that can be damaged by water. Drop in a plant and hide its store-bought container in the ceramic vessel, or transfer a plant to the planter and add rocks, marbles or pebbles to the bottom of the pot before planting to support proper drainage.
