Introducing the Wak-a-Tube pallet of 99 diatonic sets

The PP790-99 is a bulk pallet of 99 sets of our bestselling Wak-a-Tube starter set – the PP790 diatonic treble octave. Designed for distributors, retailers, and educational buyers, it offers a ready-to-go solution for stocking schools, music hubs, community centres and group programmes with a product that’s proven to engage and inspire.

About Wak-a-Tubes

Wak-a-Tubes are brightly coloured percussion instruments made from different lengths of plastic tubing. They’re fun and easy for musicians of all ages to play – simply whack them against a hard surface, hit them against each other, or lay them out on a flat surface and strike them with beaters.

The larger the tube, the lower the pitch, making it easy to explore melody and harmony. You can experiment with dynamics and timbre by varying what the tubes are struck against and how hard you hit them. Built to last, Wak-a-Tubes are virtually indestructible, making them ideal for energetic play. Perfect for group use, they help develop teamwork and ensemble skills, which is why they’re so popular in schools.

The complete range of tubes spans a fully chromatic range of 2 octaves (from C3-C5), but it’s possible to extend this down a further octave (to C2) when the Wak-a-Tubes are used in conjunction with Wak-a-Caps.

The Percussion Plus Colour & Play series

Teaching music to young groups requires plenty of coordination, technique and concentration, and sometimes it can be difficult to get cohesive tunes out of your whole class ensemble.

Relating specific colours to specific notes can be engaging and helpful for young students learning the basics of music notation, enhancing their development from the early stages. Drawing on this concept, Percussion Plus make a range of brightly coloured, accessible instruments which are great for teaching young students basic musicianship without needing to worry much about technique - the Colour & Play series.

All the instruments in this series are coloured according to Percussion Plus' Colour Matching Note System, so anyone can enjoy playing without prior knowledge of musical notation. Check out the whole Colour & Play range here!

For example, the tubes are colour-coded to match the PP271 & PP274 handbells, PP275 & PP276 combi bells, PP273 desk bells, PP935 chime bars, and PP015 hand chimes among others – so what are you waiting for? Start your Percussion Plus orchestra today!

Our Wak-a-Tube packaging is made from 100% recyclable materials sourced from FSC certified suppliers

Nice scale
Color: Black
Works as expected, nice size. Makes a big difference when adjusting espresso extraction. I haven't used the timer. One improvement for my use would be to move the power switch from the back to the front, on the side or on the control panel.

TLDR: Buy it. It works well, it has impressive and useful features, it looks great, it’s thin/low-profile, and it’s a great price. Detailed review: I’m very happy with this scale, and it has certainly upped my espresso game by leaps and bounds. I’m able to weigh my beans very precisely down to a tenth of a gram (roughly the weight of a single bean), so my dosing is on point. Also, it fits beneath the portafilter with room to spare for my cup, so I can weigh my shots and accurately measure my input/output ratio. And automatic mode is magic! When the espresso hits the cup, the timer starts running, so I can measure flow rate along with everything else! Overall, super easy to use and very necessary for the at-home barista. One caveat: It acted weird on the 2nd or 3rd day, and I thought I was going to have to return it. The weight would slowly creep up even though I wasn’t adding any coffee. I dusted it off, made sure it was dry, set it on a more stable surface… I still don’t know what the matter was, but it stopped freaking out and it hasn’t really given me any trouble since. Also, I should mention that the automatic function doesn’t always work 100% perfectly; it works, and usually works quite well, but depending on the flow rate, you might get some drops dribbling into the cup and the timer not detect it right away. (I think the timer must be activated according to some sort of algorithm that looks for a certain increase in a certain amount of time, so a slower initial drip rate might not trigger it at first.) Also weirdly, it seems like about half of the time when the weight stops increasing (i.e., espresso stops flowing) , the timer pauses (as I think it’s supposed to do), but other times, the timer keeps running until you manually stop it. I don’t know… It’s a weird glitch, I guess, but it doesn’t really make any difference. The weight is accurate, and that’s the primary thing to keep an eye on. So, is it perfect? No, I guess not. But, it works extremely well and functions perfectly for my purposes. In fact, it’s a lot nicer and fancier than I expected – plus, it’s more affordable and more streamlined than its obvious rival the Acacia.
