The latest iteration of this tonesome twosome includes DW's 5P 5-position butt plate, which presents you with five easily reproducible snare wire presets with the flip of a lever. The DW MAG throw off is an absolute workhorse, with horizontal tension adjustment and a smooth, easy-to-adjust action. A magnet integrated into its body means this throw off won't release without a slight tug — great for avoiding accidental snare drops. When the MAG throw off does release, however, it throws the strainer completely off the head to avoid snare buzz. The other half of this hardware equation is the 5P butt plate, which allows you to toggle note length and snare sensitivity on the fly, mid-performance, to suit all sorts of tempos and styles. Both the MAG throw off and DW 5P butt plate retrofit easily onto any DW snare drum, no drilling required. All mounting hardware is included, so upgrading your DW snare is a breeze.
