As with his debut EP "Unfurl" (2017), the album was written and recorded with producer Ed Tullett (Novo Amor).Built around Spalding's staggeringly beautiful voice, the record is full of melodic, immediate songwriting and arresting electronic production.Asked about his choice of title, Spalding explains, "To be melancholy all year round is to suffer from Novemberism." And indeed, these 11 tracks are woven together with a common thread of heavyheartedness. Even the more upbeat songs, like title track "Novemberism" and "Bow Creek", which drive and glisten with intoxicating pop hooks and 80s era synths, recall the darker undercurrents of classic New Order.Says Spalding, "The album focuses on a certain period of time in my life and the things that happened around me. My honesty in songwriting is key. The aim of this album was to be raw and emotional. Emotions are scary and no one wants to face them, and that's what I wanted the album to feel like - something that is uncomfortable but also beautifully revealing.Synthesizers feature heavily across the record, including single "Bow Creek", where iridescent synth stabs and lush strings wash over a hazy, late-night London. "I'm a huge Roxy Music fan", says Spalding, "I love Brian Ferry's work and take inspiration from the Prophet synth sounds on the 80s Bruce Springsteen records. Opener "Athamé" explodes the record into life with a barrage of saxophone and cymbals, before settling down to "Xanax"'s addictive delayed guitar lines and Spalding's world-weary vocals. The slow, dark R&B simmer of "Her Crescent" reflects in the dark, ethereal pool of Björk-influenced soundscape "Emissive", and the quietude of the delicate, piano-led heartbreaker "Golden" gives room to breathe after the gloomy electronic cacophony of "AIBM". Elsewhere in the album, "Unreal" sees Spalding's gossamer, spine-tingling falsetto soar to the heavens, and epic power ballad "Everglades" lifts Spalding's voice to it's towering, affecting peak, bringing the album to a close with a shudder of thundering drums.1. This Pillow Is The Greatest!

This pillow is amazing! It’s very pricey, but worth EVERY penny in both my opinion and my husband’s. My husband had been complaining about his old pillow for a while. I did some research and this pillow seemed to be the best of the best according to the reviews. But that price - yikes! I kept checking back and saw it was on sale and decided to take a chance. Bought it in the tall size (7.5 in.) and decided it would be his early birthday gift. The first night of him using it was AMAZING for both of us. He has snored like a freight train and will periodically stop breathing for 15-18 seconds throughout the night for the past 26 years that I know of. Immediately, his super loud snoring downgraded to a very low level of snoring. He said after the first night he fell asleep fast, did not wake up nearly as much and finally had no neck pain in the morning. He’s had it over a month now and says he can’t believe a pillow could make this big of a difference in his sleep quality. I can’t believe I don’t have to deal with his concert level snoring anymore. Plus, he no longer stops breathing for short intervals anymore! This pillow has been well worth the cost for us!

I am a combination sleeper and this pillow is comfortable in almost any direction I lay. Definitely a relief on my neck compared to my previous cervical type pillows.

Decent pillow; medium-firm; heavy

I was looking to replace my old latex pillow from BBB. I have tried several but finding just the right one has been elusive. Although expensive, I was confident this would be THE one. Sadly, it isn't. For a latex pillow, this IS really nice. It is comfortable and solid latex - hard to find. It is medium-firm and has decent spring back. But for me, it doesn't have enough sink. It is actually too firm and I felt my neck was cranked all night (I am 5'6", 135#, side sleeper, ordered the 6.5" one). I do think the cooling Purple grid works pretty well but at the same time, I could feel the grid under my pillow case. The pillow is very heavy.

It’s $30 to return and quickly STINKS from body heat

Original review about $30 return below, but since it cost to return I gave it to my husband. He’s a hot sleeper so other than this pillow we’ve switched to all cotton, linen or wool bedding and it’s made a huge difference. (Polyester is plastic so it reflects your heat back to you and makes you sweat more and doesn’t breathe.)
I truly would not have kept this pillow except $30 felt like a waste just to return and he got excited about it. So okay, it’s his. Well I’m the laundry queen in our household (he does all dishes) and I realized very quickly this pillow would need to be washed OFTEN. Like, once a week is NOT enough.
Something about body heat and this material smells HORRIBLE.
Washing it is obviously not easy, so I handwash the outer layer of the pillow with a very gentle soap (bought for silk). And then it has to hang dry.
It doesn’t matter. I can clean it perfectly, no smell remaining whatsoever, but after two nights, it’s so strong I can smell it JUST STANDING NEAR THE BED.
Look. I mentioned my hubs sleeps hot, sure. But he’s hygienic. This should not be such an issue. It’s never been an issue with any other pillows. The smell doesn’t even smell like him or like B.O. or anything. It’s awful and legitimately churns my stomach.
But can I throw out the stupid $200 thing? Noooo. Now he’s attached. And I’m spending hours of my life each week washing it to keep from feeling sick sleeping near it at night. And to avoid having wasted $200. Hate this thing.
DON’T BUY THIS STUPID PILLOW. Dropping from 2 stars to 1 Because of the smell.

I thought I could buy this and see if the height would work for me. It didn’t, and pinched my neck instead. But now the *only* way to return it is to ship through UPS (not return to the UPS Store or Kohl’s or Whole Foods, which would be free).
I was going to return it and try a different size, but such a high price just to *try* it is not worth it to me.
I’ve returned much larger (defective) items in the past without hassle or cost (like an entire heavy duty garage shelf with broken pieces).
Had I known, I would not have ordered in the first place, so I hope this saves someone else.
As for the pillow itself, it was unique, but I couldn’t even really lay my head on it for more than a moment until I had let it air out for more than a week. It REEKED upon arrival. My husband said it smelled like ozone, and my brother compared it to the inside of an airplane. It burned my throat if I tried to lay on it for more than about 30 seconds at a time. Two and a half weeks later, the smell is still slightly there.
So even if it was comfy for me, I would not keep this pillow.

The best pillow for side and back sleeping

Bought this pillow for my husband, he loves it. He is back sleeping and has been the best pillow so far. Worth the money. With buy one for me and my daughter. It’s a little pricey but when it comes to sleeping it’s worth the money.highly recommend
