How to install HPE P5520 3.84 TB NVMe RI SSD

  • Power down the server and ensure proper anti-static precautions are followed before handling the drive.
  • Identify an available 2.5" U.2 NVMe drive slot or backplane in the server chassis that supports NVMe hot-swap or fixed drive bays.
  • Remove any blank filler or spare drive caddies from the designated bay to prepare for the new NVMe SSD installation.
  • Insert the HPE P5520 RI SSD into the U.2 slot, aligning connectors with the backplane and ensuring a firm, secure seating.
  • Secure the drive with the appropriate screws or retention mechanism as required by the server or backplane design.
  • Reconnect any NVMe backplane cables or hot-swap connections, if applicable, and close the chassis.
  • Power on the server and enter the system BIOS/UEFI to confirm that the new drive is detected and recognized as an NVMe/PCIe device.
  • In the operating system or storage controller management utility, initialize the drive, set up any required RAID or caching configurations, and format the volume as needed.
  • Apply the latest firmware and driver updates from HPE if available, and monitor drive health through the server management interface to ensure optimal performance.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What workloads are best suited for the HPE P5520 RI SSD? A: Read-intensive workloads such as read caching, boot drives, bulk storage, social media data stores, and email servers benefit most from this drive's high read IOPS and low latency.
  • Q: Is a 2.5" U.2 NVMe drive compatible with most servers? A: The 2.5" U.2 form factor is widely supported by many enterprise servers and backplanes that offer NVMe hot-swap bays or U.2 connectors. Always verify adapter/backplane compatibility with your server model and firmware.
  • Q: Can this drive be used as a boot disk? A: Yes, NVMe RI SSDs are commonly used for boot and OS residency in performance-focused deployments, provided the server firmware and OS support NVMe boot configuration.
  • Q: What is the PCIe version of this drive? A: The HPE P5520 RI SSD uses PCIe 4.0 (Gen4) with NVMe, delivering high throughput and IOPS for demanding workloads.
  • Q: How do I monitor drive health and firmware? A: Use the server’s management tools (such as HPE iLO or equivalent storage management utilities) to monitor SMART attributes, firmware levels, and drive health, and apply firmware updates as recommended by HPE.
  • Q: Is there a difference between Read Intensive and other endurance classes? A: Read Intensive drives are optimized for read-heavy workloads, typically offering strong read performance and suitable endurance for read-centric applications. For write-heavy workloads, a Write Intensive or balanced class may be more appropriate.

Decent, but be careful of frequent use.
Size: 12 Pairs / 24 pcs, Size: 12 Pairs / 24 pcs
The looks are very nice, functional if left alone once assembled. After that I would leave them alone otherwise you risk the main male portion just coming loose of the housing, sound quality is decent, nothing to write home about, but again, not very durable. If they could fix that 1 thing, these would be very good buy and value, the rest of each plug is hefty and well made.

Perfect for guitar wire harnesses.
Size: 6 Colors each 10FT, Style: 22AWG, Size: 6 Colors each 10FT, Style: 22AWG
This is the first time I’ve used this type of wire for building and repairing electric guitars. These 22 AWG stranded silicone insulated wires are perfect for connecting control pots and switches. They are soft, flexible, and the insulation does not burn or melt back when soldering. The wire itself is tinned pure copper and solders with ease. I use a silver bearing solder which requires more heat than standard lead/tin solder. The silicon insulation handles the heat just fine without burning or distorting it. The wire is strong and durable, yet it strips back easily with a standard stripping tool. They are true to the advertised thickness of 22 gauge. I have used both traditional cloth insulated (pull back), and PVC insulated guitar hookup wire in the past. I will be using this silicon wire from now on. It is easy to work with and produces a very clean professional looking result.
