Grace Lin developed the Tranquil Flower motif during her postpartum recovery in early 2021, choosing the warm-coral palette specifically because no existing playmat pattern felt like something she actually wanted in her own living room. The pattern draws from late-Edo Japanese kimono shibori hand-tied florals, simplified into a flat geometric form that reads as both child-appropriate and adult-aesthetic.
