Following the initial cleaning by mechanical filter media (such as EHEIM MECH or MECHpro), biological filtration becomes crucial. It ensures crystal-clear, healthy water and stable water parameters. This is why we have dedicated extensive research to the development of biological filter media. Tip: Avoid cleaning or replacing all the filter media simultaneously (and refrain from excessive cleaning). It’s vital not to completely eliminate the bacterial cultures, as this will hinder recolonization.
