Description:
Echeveria 'Black Prince' is a striking and dramatic succulent, known for its rich, dark colouration and compact, elegant rosette form. Its fleshy, pointed leaves range from deep burgundy to near-black, creating a bold contrast with the plant’s vibrant green centre. This almost gothic aesthetic makes it a standout in any succulent collection. In bloom, it sends up slender stems topped with vivid red to fuchsia flowers, adding an eye-catching pop of colour to its otherwise dark palette.
Unusually for an this particular Echeveria flowers multiple times throughout the year—from early spring through late winter—making it a rewarding and ever-changing addition to your plant display. However, since flowering can consume a lot of the plant’s energy, it’s recommended to trim the bloom stalks once the flowers fade to help the plant conserve strength and maintain its compact shape.
Compared to many other succulents, this succulent grows at a moderate to fast rate under the right conditions. It can reach up to 15 cm in height and width and will often produce small offsets or "pups" around its base, which can be gently separated and propagated, allowing your collection to grow over time.
This variety is an excellent choice for beginners. It’s low-maintenance, drought-tolerant, and thrives in bright indoor spaces such as sunny windowsills or shelves. Outdoors, it does well in containers, succulent bowls, or rock gardens in mild climates. Like many succulents, it contributes to better indoor air quality by helping filter and purify the air, while also bringing a calming, natural element into your home or office.
