Background
Aquaporin 3 (AQP3) is an aquaglyceroporin that transports water and glycerol and is expressed in the epidermis, among other epithelial tissues [PMID: 21276418]. AQP3 plays a key role in various processes involved in keratinocyte function, and abnormalities in this channel have been observed in several human skin diseases [PMID: 32267715].
