Discover the Extreme Networks 4000 Series 4220 48-Port Ethernet Switch, a cloud-managed Layer 2 access switch built to simplify enterprise networking while delivering the power and flexibility you expect from a traditional campus switch. Engineered for effortless deployment, centralized management, and scalable growth, the 4220 is a cornerstone for organizations pursuing a future-ready network. With ExtremeCloud IQ as the management foundation, this switch enables zero-touch provisioning, policy-based governance, and proactive insights that keep your network secure, fast, and reliable across branches, campuses, and distributed sites.

  • Cloud-managed simplicity: The 4220 is designed around ExtremeCloud IQ, a cloud-first management platform that centralizes provisioning, monitoring, and firmware updates. This enables IT teams to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot a large fleet of switches from a single dashboard, reducing on-site visits and speeding up changes. With smart alerts, real-time analytics, and automated health checks, you gain visibility into port utilization, traffic patterns, and security events without manual scripting. The cloud-based model also streamlines policy enforcement, ensuring uniform security and performance across all locations while minimizing the risk of configuration drift.
  • Robust Layer 2 switching for enterprise access: The 4220 delivers reliable Layer 2 performance ideal for edge and access-layer deployments. It supports essential enterprise features such as VLAN segmentation, 802.1Q tagging, and advanced spanning-tree variants to prevent loops and ensure network stability. VLAN-based segmentation enables graceful isolation of user devices, VoIP traffic, and critical applications, while Quality of Service (QoS) policies prioritize latency-sensitive traffic like voice and video. Comprehensive security controls—such as ACLs, port security, and 802.1X authentication—help defend against unauthorized access and ensure that policy-driven access remains consistent across the network.
  • High port density with flexible uplinks: The 48-port configuration provides abundant copper Ethernet connectivity for desktops, printers, access points, cameras, and other endpoints. The architecture supports flexible uplink options suited to varied topologies, allowing organizations to scale from access to distribution layers without re-wiring. This flexibility means you can tailor uplink bandwidth to your campus or data-center footprint, supporting growth and peak traffic demands while keeping management simple and centralized through ExtremeCloud IQ.
  • Secure, scalable, and resilient by design: Security and reliability are at the forefront of the 4220. In addition to VLANs and ACLs, the switch includes features such as multicast management (IGMP Snooping) to optimize streaming media and conference traffic, as well as robust congestion control and storm protection. The device is engineered for resilience in dynamic networks, supporting modern stacking or seamless policy replication across devices via the cloud. With continuous telemetry and health monitoring, you can detect anomalies early and implement fixes before they impact end-users.
  • Cost-effective management and operation: By leveraging a cloud-managed approach, the 4000 Series reduces the need for complex on-site configurations and ongoing manual maintenance. The centralized platform simplifies firmware upgrades, security policy enforcement, and license management across multiple sites, delivering lower total cost of ownership. The 4220’s energy-efficient design also contributes to lower operating costs, while consistent performance helps you maximize the return on investment from your existing infrastructure as you scale.

How to install Extreme Networks 4000 Series 4220

Installing the 4220 is designed to be straightforward for IT teams adopting a cloud-managed approach. Begin with planning that aligns with your existing architecture, including VLAN design, IP addressing, and security policies to be auto-applied when the device is onboarded to ExtremeCloud IQ. The goal is to minimize on-site configuration while ensuring that the switch adopts consistently across all locations.

  • Prepare the rack and power: Mount the 1U switch in a ventilated rack, connect to a stable power source, and verify the environment meets the recommended temperature and airflow specifications. Ensure you have access to the network path that will carry the uplink traffic to the core or distribution layer.
  • Initial connectivity: Connect the switch to your management network and one or more endpoints. This initial connectivity enables you to reach the management interface or begin the cloud onboarding process. If required, use a console or out-of-band management port for the first-time configuration.
  • Cloud onboarding: From your ExtremeCloud IQ account, initiate the device discovery and adoption workflow. The 4220 will register with your cluster, import baseline policies, and receive site-specific configurations. You can apply templates for VLANs, ACLs, QoS rules, and access policies to ensure consistency across sites.
  • Policy and service assignment: Create or import policies for security, traffic shaping, and access control. Use the cloud dashboard to assign these policies to specific ports, VLANs, or user groups. This centralized approach enables rapid policy rollouts and uniform enforcement even as you scale.
  • Validation and monitoring: After onboarding, validate network connectivity by testing device reachability, VLAN segmentation, and QoS behavior. Use the cloud-based analytics to monitor port utilization, latency, jitter, and packet loss. Schedule firmware updates and enable alerting so you receive proactive notifications about health or performance issues.
  • Ongoing maintenance: Leverage ExtremeCloud IQ for ongoing health checks, automated remediation suggestions, and easy firmware management. As your network grows, you can deploy additional 4220 units and enforce uniform configurations with minimal manual overhead, ensuring a consistent experience for users and devices.

Don’t buy
Size: 5 in
I bought one at a store for my Rottweiler puppy, about 2 months ago, I bought one from here n about 5 minutes she had chewed the end off, they did send me another, no charge, well I received the other bone yesterday, she chewed a big split in it. Won’t buy anymore, I’m out the money, which isn’t much. Made in China also, no more. Going back to Kong toys, they do last with aggressive chewers. Don’t know why but the one I bought at the store is holding up real good.

Eh...
Size: 5 in
I had high hopes for these cause we have other spot brand toys that have last a long time. Unfortunately these just don't hold up to the test! My dogs had them broken in about 5 - 10 mins. They did smell good tho and my dogs went crazy over them before I ever got them out of the bag. Lol.

Smells too strong
Size: 5 in
My dog hates the way this thing smells. She tries to play with it, but the scent is too strong for her nose. I know it's the scent because she usually sniffs it two or three times in between trying to grab it with her mouth. She treats it like an explosive in her mouth and quickly moves away after spitting it out. She used to have a bone that looked similar to this (same material) that was unscented and she gnawed the hell out of it. My sister's pitbull spent the night and chewed that toy into bits, leaving my Yorkie mourning the loss of her once treasured bone. Please make an UNSCENTED version of this toy!!!!

If you were looking for a sign to buy this, here it is
Color: A) Small 2.5" Ball
If you are looking for a ball that can stand up next to a heavy, aggressive chewer.. this is a good choice. Our Pitbull literally destroyed any and every toy that she gets with the exception of one kind of kong ball. She tore through the kong Frisbees, any kind of squeaker toy, and the wobble wag giggle ball (she usually always ends up destroying these but it takes a few weeks. Today she beat her record and had her brand new ball destroyed within the first 30 minutes of us taking it out of the box). But, this ball she has not been able to destroy. I'd like to believe that the Kong ball she has and this ball are made of the same material. Because they are the only balls she can't ruin. And it's not because of a lack of trying. We have watched her sit there and chew with a side of her mouth for an hour or more, trying to make some kind of indention or tear in it and it just never happened. She loves to chew this thing, chase this thing, sleep with this thing. I most certainly recommend this ball. If it is I'ah proof then it is most certainly, 100% a durable ball and worth every penny
