unlock your productivity with a powerful external graphics solution that turns a single USB 3.0 Type-A port into four independent HDMI displays. The StarTech USB 3.0 to 4 HDMI Adapter lets you extend your desktop across four monitors or create a dynamic multi-monitor setup for presentations, dashboards, design work, programming, trading, or digital signage. Built for Windows systems, this external graphics card delivers crisp 1080p video output on each display, enabling you to work smarter with fewer limits on screen real estate. Whether you’re on a laptop or a desktop, this compact adapter provides a seamless, plug-and-play way to scale your visual workspace without sacrificing precious internal PCIe or GPU slots.

  • Four independent HDMI outputs from a single USB-A port: Expand your workspace by connecting up to four HDMI monitors to one USB 3.0 connection. Create a true multi-monitor environment that supports extended desktops, windows tiling, large spreadsheets, and complex data comparisons all at once. This adapter is ideal for stock trading dashboards, software development environments, data analytics, and creative workflows where extra screen real estate accelerates decision-making.
  • DisplayLink-based external graphics technology: Driven by DisplayLink architecture, the adapter delivers reliable, scalable multi-display performance without the need for a dedicated internal graphics card. This approach simplifies setup on laptops and desktops, reduces power draw, and makes it easy to add or remove displays as your needs change. It also allows you to run four separate HDMI displays with independent content, windows, and taskbars, enhancing your ability to monitor, compare, and act on information in real time.
  • High-clarity 1080p video on every display: Each HDMI output supports up to 1080p resolution, delivering sharp text, vivid color, and smooth motion for meetings, tutorials, coding sessions, or media playback. While you can mirror or extend across displays, the adapter is optimized for crisp, dependable image quality across all four screens, so you won’t miss important details in spreadsheets, design files, or dashboards.
  • USB 3.0 bandwidth for smooth multitasking: Take advantage of the ample bandwidth of USB 3.0 to drive multiple displays without overloading your system. The adapter is designed to work with standard USB 3.0 ports, providing the throughput needed for multiple 1080p streams, while remaining energy-efficient and portable. It’s a practical upgrade for laptops that lack a discrete GPU but still require a professional-grade multi-monitor setup for productivity and collaboration.
  • Compact, portable external graphics solution: No internal card installation or PCIe slots required. The external design is easy to pack for travel, conference rooms, classrooms, or temporary workstations. Set up quickly for demonstrations, training sessions, or on-site support, and detach when you’re done without leaving a bulky peripheral behind. The compact form factor keeps your desk tidy while delivering a robust, flexible display expansion solution.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: Can I use all four HDMI outputs at the same time on Windows?

A: Yes. The StarTech USB 3.0 to 4 HDMI Adapter is designed to drive four independent HDMI displays, enabling extended desktop configurations or mirrored displays across four screens when used with the appropriate DisplayLink drivers.

  • Q: Do I need any special hardware or a dedicated graphics card?

A: No dedicated graphics card is required. This is an external graphics solution that uses your system’s USB 3.0 port and DisplayLink technology to deliver multi-monitor support without upgrading internal components.

  • Q: Which operating systems are supported?

A: The adapter is designed for Windows systems with DisplayLink driver support. Check the latest driver release notes for compatible Windows versions and any updates needed for Windows 10/11 environments.

  • Q: Is the performance suitable for productivity apps, video, and presentations?

A: Yes. The four HDMI outputs support up to 1080p each, making it suitable for productivity tasks, multi-monitor dashboards, and multimedia presentations. For demanding video editing or gaming, performance may vary based on system hardware and driver optimization.

  • Q: Is the device bus-powered?

A: Yes, the adapter is designed to be powered via the USB 3.0 port on your computer. In rare cases where the host USB port cannot supply enough power, an externally powered setup or powered USB hub may be considered, though this is typically not required.

All Gotchas, Gimmicks, and Grief
My husband broke the item in question, which was a Chemex coffee maker made of nothing but glass. It shattered full of coffee, so like a normal human he cleaned up the dangerous mess and threw it away. I put in a claim, and it said that I had to ship back the product. Believing that the Asurion process was as simple as stated, and reading the agreement that does mention that sometimes they'll require shipment of the item, but that they will review cases and use reasonable judgment, I contacted their chat, explaining that the requirement that I mail them a wet pile of shards of glass soaked in coffee (and a little bit of blood) was unsafe and unreasonable. I don't even know how I could do that in a way that would be safe for the people opening the packaging, or even to take it to the store. The shards of glass might puncture any plastic, and the wetness would soak through, plus there's the biohazard issue. Seems silly for a $47 product replacement to me. I figured any human would understand. First chat associate closed my case without even responding to me. I had to reopen it. The second one told me, "Yes, that is how your warranty works" as an answer to my "Hello, the last chat closed without me talking to anyone." I tried to explain the situation, and was told "If you call the hotline, maybe they'll help you." I call the hotline. The first person tells me tough, I have to mail it. I say it was thrown away. He says "AHA then it's lost! Your warranty doesn't cover lost things!" I say no, it's not lost, it was disposed of properly as shards of glass should be. I finally ask can I speak to someone else or a supervisor. He lies and says yes. I sit on hold for 20 minutes, never any wait time or any sort of indicator of when someone will talk to me. The phone call quality finally gets very horribly staticky, so I hang up and try again. Hallelujah, I get a decent human being who immediately says, "Oh, no, that's not reasonable! That is an unsafe thing to have to mail. I'll send it to the override department who should approve this because it's obvious that's not a normal thing to expect." Today I get an email that says: We can't approve your claim. We reviewed your NO SUPPORTING MANUFACTURER COFFEE MAKER claim. The product in your claim is not covered by your plan. As a result, we're unable to approve your claim. Nothing about the requirement to mail a biohazard, just the item isn't covered even though the item is absolutely covered. While I understand that loss prevention is important, this is a very small potatoes return and it isn't like I made this up. It would be easy to make me happy. I'm sure it has cost them more money to deny it than they would have lost covering the Chemex. I've bought multiple of their product replacement policies before. I never will again. They didn't offer for me to send a picture or anything. They just wasted hours of my time and sent a clearly AI-based answer, rather than treating me like a valuable customer.

I had problems with my Sous Vide and the manufacturer warranty expired 1 year ago. I made a claim with Asurion and they immediately sent me a return label. I returned the old Sous Vide and I was sent an amazon gift card to purchase a new Sous Vide within a couple of days.
