Fire safety is an essential consideration for all types of facilities, from warehouses to retail stores and apartment buildings. With fire warden training in Adelaide, you gain the practical skills needed to develop emergency evacuation plans and prepare for unexpected events. Book training today to learn how to protect employers and visitors.

Who Should Complete Fire Warden Training Adelaide?

Anyone interested in helping to make their workplace safe should consider completing fire warden training. Employers may also appoint fire wardens to ensure that they have adequate evacuation plans in place.

What is a fire warden? They are staff members within an organisation that have been assigned responsibilities related to fire emergency procedures. The duties of a fire warden are both proactive and reactive. They develop safety procedures to minimise the risk of fires and plans for responding to fires.

Fire warden roles typically include the following responsibilities:

  • Controlling the movement of people during building emergencies
  • Assisting those in need of urgent help
  • Identifying hazards and risks in the workplace
  • Using appropriate equipment during an emergency, such as fire extinguishers
  • Developing and implementing workplace emergency procedures

During workplace emergencies, the fire wardens are the ones who help direct people to emergency exits and count heads to ensure that everyone is accounted for during emergencies. Completing a safety training course gives you the skills needed to carry out these duties.

Fire Warden Training Regulations and Learning Outcomes

The Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Act does not specify the fire warden’s legal requirement for training. However, the Australian Standard 3745 is accepted as the standards Australian businesses follow for planning and preparing evacuation plans.

The course equips individuals to safely evacuate workplaces, ensuring that key personnel are ready to handle any emergency.

The fire warden course covers the following topics:

  • Planning for emergencies
  • WHS requirements for evacuation options
  • Systems and procedures for emergency warnings
  • Identification of safe evacuation routes
  • Types of fire protection systems and equipment
  • The role of a fire warden before, during, and after an emergency

You learn what types of emergencies you may face and the typical human behaviours. Understanding these topics allows you to deal with all types of emergency situations that require the evacuation of the building, from fires to bomb threats.

Fire warden training takes up to four hours for in-person training. The course includes a combination of classroom learning and practical training. Participants are assessed on both the theoretical and practical aspects of evacuation procedures.

You must get an 80% pass mark to successfully demonstrate your knowledge of the training. Upon successful completion of the course, you receive a certificate of completion. We also recommend completing a refresher course every two years to stay refreshed on proper evacuation procedures.

Is Fire Warden Training Legally Required in Adelaide?

The current WHS regulations do not require employers to appoint fire wardens. However, according to SafeWork Australia, PCBUs must maintain an emergency plan for the workplace.

The emergency plan is a written set of instructions that covers the following:

  • Emergency evacuation procedures
  • Notifying emergency services and responders
  • Obtaining medical treatment and assistance
  • Evaluating emergency procedures
  • Safety training and instruction for relevant workers

Assigning fire wardens and completing the related training course helps PCBUs comply with WHS regulations. Fire warden courses provide the training needed to develop, implement, and maintain emergency procedures.

Along with fire warden training, fire wardens may benefit from our online confined spaces training. Confined spaces training explores related topics, such as the dangers of using fire extinguishers in confined spaces, such as stairwells.

The standard practice is to assign two fire wardens for every 20 occupants of a building. Depending on the size of your organisation, you may enlist additional wardens to ensure that evacuation plans are followed.

Each facility should have enough fire wardens to cover all areas of a building. For example, Australian standard 3745 recommends having at least one warden per floor of the building.

How to Start Fire Warden Training in Adelaide

The best way to obtain fire warden training is by enrolling in a face-to-face course. The training must be completed by a registered training organisation (RTO). We are not an RTO. At OHS.com.au, we help you find the right safety courses from qualified training providers, saving you time, energy, and money.

We work with the leading RTOs in Adelaide and the rest of Australia to bring access to safety training to everyone. Explore your options and sign up for fire warden training at a nearby training facility today.

Amazing recipes, but a visually exhausting thing to read
Format: Hardcover
The recipes in this book are amazing. Reading through them and flipping back and forth through the pages you can tell Molly put a lot of time and attention into making powerful recipes packed with flavor, with all of them being incredibly approachable in actual technique. There are too many good things to call out with this collection of recipes. But existing as an easily digestible and referenced cookbook, it kind of sucks. The editing in this book is supposed to be *fun*. There are random font styles in every page and sometimes there are weird lines that become wavy. There are points in the book where there’s suddenly a cocktail recipe thrown into a chapter about salads or sandwiches. Great sounding cocktails, but ones you’ll need to scan the recipe list for since how would you be able to know which chapter it was thrown into? At the end of the day I feel like a cookbook should be an easy tool for someone to use in the kitchen when there’s already so much going on. The book is visually exhausting to read, but looks very very delicious to make from.

Nice recipes, AWFUL font
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
I loved Cook This Book. Mine has a permanent crease on the Caesar salad page and the other recipes I have tried have all been winners, so I was excited to get Molly’s next book. My initial browse through the recipes has me excited to try them out, I just cannot understand the choice of this awful font. It is so difficult to read and make out the letters. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be for someone with visual or reading impairments. There is even a fully black page with dark blue font that is basically unreadable (the picture I included is very kind, in real life the contrast is extremely minimal). It’s such a huge distraction from what otherwise appears to be a nice collection.

Useful
Format: Kindle
Wonderfully written with lots of good advice. I think a lot of young people are lost in the world because a lot of this stuff is not taught in school anymore, at least not where I am. This would be a great resource for kids that are aging out of foster care and need the guidance of how to manage life. This could also serve to guide adults leaving prison. I wish I would have had something like this when I was becoming an adult because I didn't have the best guidance and figured a lot of stuff out on my own. I will make sure both my kids have a copy to guide them in the event I'm not around to help them. Overall, great book and I'm glad someone wrote it. Lol
