The GS/3 MP is a much more manual espresso machine. La Marzocco is designed to capture the romance of classic espresso production. The MP group head - now in its fourth version - utilizes a paddle to open and close water flow to the group by way of ball-valve, as opposed to the AV's electronic solenoid. As the paddle is moved to the left, the ball valve opens, and more water is allowed to pass through. The La Marzocco GS3 is designed to fit well in a home, yet it has the high-volume performance that's needed for commercial use. New Full Range Pressure Manipulation

The micro switch for engaging the pump has been moved to the beginning of the brew cycle in order to create back pressure on the valve. This allows the user to manually manipulate brew pressure with a reservoir machine. No more need to plumb in the GS3 MP for pre-infusion. You can now also manipulate the pressure in the full range of pressure from 0 to 9 bars.

Periscope Manometer

A new manometer has been added that sits on top of the group head in order to measure the brewing pressure at the point of brewing instead of in the boiler. This combined with Pump On Pre-Infusion features allows for manual pressure manipulation with a reservoir machine.

Conical Valve

The manual paddle valve has been redesigned to improve reliability. This is an exciting new upgrade that provides convenience for our customers.

Cool Touch Steam Wand

The cool touch steam wand has changed to improve both convenience and steaming power. It has been replaced from Teflon tubing to a double-walled steel cool-touch wand. This combines the performance of the Pro Steam wand with the convenience of the cool touch wand. With this change, the Pro Steam wand option will no longer be an option on the GS3. This will also be standard on the GS3 AV model.

Pre-Infusion

When the MP is plumbed in, the pre-infusion position of the paddle allows water to flow through the valve using line pressure (3-4 bars), creating a smooth, gentle pre-infusion stage that can run for as long as you want before engaging the pump at 9 bars.

With the current pandemic situation we can not say exactly when until the factories open back up in Italy.
