Yarra Yering is one of the Yarra Valley’s most iconic and historic wineries, established in 1969 by Dr. Bailey Carrodus, a pioneer who helped revive winemaking in the region. Known for its elegant, age-worthy wines, Yarra Yering quickly earned a reputation for excellence, with its first commercial vintage released in 1973.

Since 2013 the winery is led by acclaimed winemaker Sarah Crowe, whose focus on site expression and sustainable practices has earned widespread recognition, including multiple Winemaker of the Year awards. Her second ‘Winemaker of the Year” accolade was in 2021, presented by Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine. The same year Yarra Yering won the 2022 James Halliday Winery of the Year & Wine of The Year, the first time a winery has ever won 2 major accolades in the one year.

The grapes were hand-picked and chilled overnight. Processing the following day along a fruit sorting table and destemmed gently into our signature small fermenters. Some whole bunches were used to contribute subtle stalk structure and a generous fruit profile. Working of the ferment by gentle hand plunging twice daily contributes to the soft fruit palate along with gentle pressing. Maturation for 10 months in all French barrels with 30% new and the balance older oak.

Tasting Note

"Sarah Crowe continues to find new features to the Yarra Yering wines. This is a subtle expression, with no thumping of drums, but is intensely pleasing. The bouquet fills all the senses with red fruits to the fore, the palate seamlessly taking on the theme. The length and balance mean this wine will seem ageless as the years go by.
